Average Pros Gaming
Formerly dedicated to Airsoft games, Average Pros Gaming focuses on all kinds of gaming from Magic: The Gathering to OnePageRules
Trying to convince myself he’d table ready for a one shot.
Just did some test fits on the board. It’s definitely coming together. Glad I did this too because I think I have enough trees for the forest. My initial first size was too large.
Finally got to the point where it was time to apply some sculptamold. The waterfall mountain is ready for priming and painting.
Sunday the kids and I dug up a bunch of dirt and gravel in front of our house (finally a positive side to the city leaving our roads in disrepair?) and I separated the dirt and gravel and rocks into different sizes and containers. Today I mixed the dirt and some of the smallest rocks and mixed it with PVA glue to create this slurry that will form the ground and river bed. The ground will then receive several layers of flocking over the course of the build, but I think this should make for an effective river bottom.
I did this part of the board because it isn’t going to have anything printed to put on it. I want to apply the trees and the buildings to the board before I put this slurry over their sections, to help blend them into the board.
Waterfall in place, splashes are in place too but need painting
Todays progress. I did in the water effects and the dry brushing of the rocks and dirt. I also used gloss mod podge everywhere that Is supposed to be water or wet (water isn’t wet). Then I took white paint and stippled out onto the current marks made by the joint compound.
Some of the gloss mod podge is refusing to dry in the crevice at the base of the waterfall, so I can’t apply any washes yet.
All that remains is to create the water fall effect from 2 part epoxy and wash everything.
Gonna have to make a blue wash for the water, fortunately I have some blue ink to make it with.
Today’s progress. First I cleaned up all the rock base coat with the airbrush (I don’t know why I bother with brushes on large stuff), then I started painting the dirt.
Remaining steps are to
do the rest of the colors for the water
wash everything
dry brush everything
gloss mod podge the water
Go over the current and other areas of froth with a white paint
Create the actual waterfall with epoxy and white paint.
Seal everything up
Just need to finish printing 2 bases and my Vinci army for is printed. If I like the army I’ll print it up again for painting. I’m also printing up the bigger automa brute. I feel like a 75 unit should be big.
These Guys had very little leather on them, so I decided to knock out the leather first. This is the first time I’ve used my snakebite leather contrast paint. I think I’m going to go over it again but this was good.
Just missing an automa brute to finish out my Vinci army for
I’m done with the skin on these models for my beastmen army. I could do a lot more but I have two other armies to paint, each with more models. Now I’ve got to pick a color scheme.
Base coat for the Minotaurs
A zenithal prime really makes a huge difference. Now imagine if I were good at this. 250 point army for age of fantasy skirmish. Models from .
My wife’s sky city dwarves scored a decisive victory over my beastmen army.
Sky city dwarves vs beastmen. I wonder who will win
Still experimenting. I think that skin tone is good
Trying out some use of inks and practicing my airbrush work. I’m not good with the airbrush so I’ve mostly been using it to prime. This is actually for a tauren/Minotaur mini I’m not ready to paint yet, and I think it will be a great base color for that.
Finished. The foot broke off as I tried adjusting the pin length, but I was able to reattach
Time for washes
What do you think of the green on his shirt and pants? A mix of AP Wizard orb and Vallejo model color olive green. I was a bit sloppy so I’ll have to clean it up.
Time for layering
Current progress
I have to admit, I kind of phoned in my last few paint jobs. No layers, minimal highlights, just base coats and washes. This time, not only will I be going all out, but I’ll be attempting black leather.
Finally finished
Next up, cleaning up my mistakes.
Just watching some bebop with the boys
What do you think of the green for the cloth?
Some more time to paint, put down another coat of army painter lava orange. One more coat and we can say the base coat for the fur is done. What colors should I make the clothing?
On their own, kobolds are weak and harmless, but In a swarm they pose a great threat. Master trap makers, kobolds with time to prepare can take down an enemy much more powerful than them.

Doing Our Part for the Community
In the summer of 2016, Calvin and Josh began planning games in the high desert. This started as a way for them to play in the kind of games they wanted, while ensuring a community bereft of local fields had a place to play. As time went on, the games got more detailed. Story lines were put in place. Props were made. Funds were raised.
Today, the Average Pros create an environment for players of all ages to come and have fun, objective oriented scenario style games with an ongoing story line and points system. Players wins and losses are tracked on a leader board, as well as a point system called “credits” that is used in our planned large scale game series, “Broken World: Open Frontier”. You can find that leader board at goo.gl/Rwe7d2.
The fictional world Average Pros games are created in is called “Broken World”. In this world, the planet’s population has been devastated by an engineered plague and subsequent warfare. Economies and entire countries have collapsed and reformed. There isn’t a country in the world with the manpower and finances to maintain a standing army. As such, all combat is carried out by private military contractors. Once combat was privatized, private corporations began hiring the same contractors that governments do to carry out raids, espionage, and perform security details.
Players represent these contractors as freelancers. Each player has a reputation score, and a credits score. When players win games, their reputation goes up and they earn credits based on the job. When players lose games, their reputation goes down. This allows each individual player to play for something beyond just “this game”.
