We are excited to announce that Michelle Tomlin, RN, and Tiffany Hedrick, RN, have been selected to receive the Helen B. Teague Lenoir-Rhyne University RN-BSN Scholarship! This scholarship is granted to nurses who currently work at Frye Regional and wish to pursue a bachelor's degree in nursing at LRU.
Michelle has been with Frye Regional for 10 years, starting her career at an Emergency Department (ED) RN and is now the ED Manager.
Tiffany was hired as a nursing assistant over 9 years ago and worked as a new staff nurse and then Nursing Supervisor after she graduated nursing school. She is currently working in the Float Pool.

Emilly was nominated by one of her patients for her gentle, supportive nature throughout their stay with Labor & Delivery. “From encouraging words to reminding me how well I was doing… she knew my wishes and never tried to waiver from them. She even stayed after shift change just to see my delivery. I wanted her here and she made it happen,” said her nominator.

Today we travelled down to our sister hospital, Rutherford Regional Health System, to debut Frye Regional’s new ambulance service. This service will support hospitals outside of Catawba County and provide greater access for patients seeking care at Frye Regional!

Yesterday we loaded up all of the shoes and socks we collected for the Frye Regional Associate Council's Shoe & Sock Drive. We collected 243 pairs of shoes, hundreds of pairs of socks and around $250 in monetary donations. The shoes and socks were donated to Caldwell County and Catawba County foster care systems. Thank you to everyone who donated and to the Associate Council for organizing the drive!
A patient's hospital experience largely depends on their interactions with nurses and nursing assistants from admission to discharge. The relationships they build, the respect they feel, the communication they receive, and the assistance provided by the nursing staff are crucial in shaping their overall experience.
These factors have earned our Post-Surgical Unit the Quarterly Top Performer in Patient Experience Award for the 1st Quarter of 2024. This unit achieved a 90th percentile ranking in Nurse Communication, a 94th percentile in Nurses' Courtesy and Respect, and a 96th percentile in Nurses Listening Carefully according to patient surveys - just to name a few! Congratulations to our Post-Surgical Unit and for all that you do to support our mission of making communities healthier.

Yesterday, we thanked local EMS providers for "answering the call" during our annual EMS appreciation luncheon. First responders begin assessing and treating patients while en route to receive additional Emergency Care, and we are so grateful for all their life-saving efforts. Happy !
It's National EMS Week! We celebrate the EMTs, paramedics, and other personnel who partner with us to provide life-saving care on the scene of an accident or emergency and help get patients safely to our hospital. Thank you to all first responders!
Our ancillary winner for this quarter is Kellie Whisnant, RT, a respiratory therapist! Kellie reached out to a patient that had rescheduled their appointment many times and asked if there were any barriers the patient was experiencing that caused the rescheduling. Kellie took the time to talk with the patient and learn more about their history, validating their anxieties and even praying with them. She went even further to give the patient her cell phone number if they wanted to talk or needed anything.

We are so excited to announce that the Food and Nutrition Services team is the first quarter winner of our departmental award! This team is always willing to help out when we need them and they work very hard to provide excellent service and delicious food in our cafeteria, to our patients and at all of our events.
