Welcome, Callie Cope, who is joining as our Costume Designer and Shop Manager this year! Callie has served as a costume designer, actor, and educator in theatres in the surrounding area for several years. She has loved sewing and designing clothes and costumes since she was a small child. She enjoys using color theory to design costumes and to add another layer to the storytelling of theatre. In her free time, you will find Callie sewing children’s clothing for local boutiques. She is an LR alum and is excited to mentor students in the same place she grew her love for theatre and design!

Happy graduation, Bears! 🐻 🎓🎭
Happy graduation! Emma Seibert (she/they) graduates with honors today, with majors in theatre and psychology. You’ve seen her on stage as Joan in FUN HOME, Kate in BIG WORK, and as several roles in COMEDY SHORTS. They’ve been assistant director, stage manager, dramaturg, production carpenter, lighting designer, Theatre Program Assistant, President of Playmakers and the National Theatre Honor Society: Alpha Psi Omega, led us all to be “loose and funky”, and represented our program so well at countless recruitment and community events. As both a student and an artist, she has made a considerable impact on the theatre community at LR. They are truly a liberal arts theatre student who has embraced the opportunity to learn about each part of the collective whole. She is a broad and deep thinker, an enthusiastic collaborator, and her genuine zest for knowledge is absolutely contagious. Emma was the 2024 recipient of the Pearl Setzer Deal Playmaker Award. She is freelancing right now (already has a gig!) and will then continue her theatre studies in graduate school to one day become Dr. Seibert. We’re so proud of you, . Onwards and upwards, dear Playmaker!
Happy graduation! Chris Wilson (he/him) graduates today with a BA in youth and family ministry and a minor in church administration. He has been a Playmaker for two years now and you know him from his many roles around LR’s campus, as well as his roles on stage as Lord Lovelace in ADA AND THE ENGINE and Tim in NOISES OFF, both of which required a British accent! Chris has been such a positive light in the program and we’re thrilled that he spent time with us in the theatre. We’re so proud of you, . Onwards and upwards, dear Playmaker!
Happy graduation! Playmaker Rachel Mauney (she/they) graduated in December with a BA in music. Last year, she brought us to tears in “The I Love You Song” in THE 25th ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE, and this past fall she shared her honest, researched, and touching portrayal of Helen Bechdel in FUN HOME. Rachel currently lives and works in Washington D.C. where she is a standby for the Washington National Opera chorus. We’re so proud of you, .m! Onwards and upwards, dear Playmaker!
Happy retirement! Jonathan Ray “JRay” retired in December, but we were so delighted that he joined us in Playmakers’ very next production: NOISES OFF. He played Sheldon and also served as our dialect coach. Jonathan worked with us at LR for several years, teaching classes such as Theatre Appreciation, Script Writing, Theatre for Youth, and Acting I. He also directed shows, such as THE COMEDY OF ERRORS and THE TEMPEST, and adapted and directed The Little Read productions of THE TURTLE OF OMAN, A MAP OF THE WORLD, THE OLD TRUCK, THE TURTLE OF MICHIGAN and a radio version of CLEMENTINE. A most excellent teacher, director, and colleague. We appreciate you, ! Happy retirement and we’ll see you back in LR’s theatre, yes? 😉
