With the Thanksgiving holiday less than a week away, the staff and recent graduates of the STRIVE program at the Mountain View Unit in Gatesville have a lot to be thankful for. The program celebrated 9 of its graduates on their upcoming reentry, which is a record for the program that helps incarcerated women learn job skills and prepare for life after incarceration. One of those graduates includes Donise Cherry who is being released after more than 30 years in TDCJ. Donise says the STRIVE program gave her a new outlook on life and that she looks forward to starting a new career. #TDCJ #STRIVE #rehabilitation #reentry #fyp #texas #corrections #successstories #successstory

Next weekend we are heading back to Gatesville to meet with one of the graduates from the S.T.R.I.V.E. ReEntry program. We will deliver 5+ outfits (business & casual wear), the essentials, hygiene products, and a few “extras” to her. With the help of the STRIVE Mentors, she will select, try on, and make choices, an exercise that can be overwhelming. Not to mention, see herself in "street clothes" for the first time in a long time. It is an honor and a blessing to "go after the one" on His behalf.
