Time to make garlic braids!

Our first week at the walk up Grove City Farmers Market and the weather is gorgeous!!

Red Brick Farm will be at the Grove City Chamber Farmers Market this coming Saturday! We can't wait to see all of you! We will have bouquets, sunflowers, fresh garlic, microgreens and grow your own microgreen kits. We also have our microgreens and microgreen kits available for online ordering (pickup at the drive-through market) at https://red-brick-farm.square.site/.

We finished digging the second half of our garlic this morning. Harvest ✅!! Should be dry in a couple weeks, then we will have it available at the Grove City Chamber Farmers Market and on Market Wagon Columbus.

We will not be at the Grove City Chamber Farmers Market on June 20 or 27 so be sure to stock up on microgreens this week. You can even buy a kit to grow your own at home! Orders can be placed before Friday at 6pm at https://red-brick-farm.square.site/

We have added a couple varieties of heirloom pepper plants to our online store. Tomato plants and pepper plants are great Mother's Day presents!! If you are looking for heirloom tomato plants, look no further! The first date for the farmers market is May 16, but if you want to pick up at our farm you can pick up this weekend. Planting tomatoes in the greenhouse today, we are hoping to see everyone later this summer at the Grove City Chamber Farmers Market either in person or with a drive through farm market! We have 18 varieties of heirloom tomatoes, so contact us if you would like to come to the farm and buy some plants.

We have tomatoes!! The farm market is over but we still have lots of heirloom tomatoes. Lots of varieties including cherries. $3.50/pound - message us and we can arrange for you to come out to the farm to get some before they are gone. We also have a lot of garlic left and everyone knows garlic goes perfectly with fresh tomatoes... 🍅

The potatoes have all been dug - look for them at the Grove City Farm Market on Saturday!

All the garlic is dug and cleaned. We have braids available for $15 (13 bulbs) and 7 different varieties for planting or eating. $9/lb or $5/.5 lb. Since this is so fresh it will last a good 3-6 months. Send us a message to come out and stock up on garlic! We also have elephant garlic for $2/bulb. The varieties we have are:

Hardnecks:
Brown Tempest (Purple Stripe Variety) - Heads have only 4 or 5 big fat brown cloves. Although it is not overpowering the cloves have a bite. If eaten raw, the cloves have a hot flavor that mellows to a pleasant aftertaste. Brown Tempest stores longer than many hardnecks.

Music (Porcelain Variety) – This is a very popular variety. The cloves have a beautiful pink skin. Music is grown throughout the northern US and likes cold climates. It has a strong robust flavor that sticks around and it is a good roaster. It stores longer than most hardnecks.

Siberian (Purple Stripe Variety) - The flavor of Siberian is delightful and not overpowering. The bulbs can be quite large and have 5 to 7 large cloves. As the name implies, Siberian likes cold climates. Storage is better than most Purple Stripe varieties.

Spanish Roja (Rocambole Variety) – Northwest heirloom brought into northwest Oregon before 1900. Delightful coloring, easy to peel cloves and outstanding hot flavor. Many garlic lovers consider this variety’s flavor “true garlic”.

Bogatyr (Marbled Purple Stripe Variety) – One of the hottest hardneck garlic varieties, known for its heat with a long lasting bite. Great for using in olive oil, pastas, grilled steak, roasted meats and seafood. Acidic fruits and vegetables are also enhanced by this variety.

Softnecks:
Nooka Rose (Silverskin variety) - Pretty bulbs and cloves that have a pretty rose coloration. Strong garlicky flavor and long storing. Bulbs are 2 inches in diameter and well suited for braiding.

Red Toch (Artichoke Variety) - Fairly large bulbs that are nicely flavored and on the mild side. Inner bulb wrappers are rosy pink and cloves are easy to peel. Early maturing. This variety originated in the Republic of Georgia.
