Come to Kilohana tomorrow at 12pm for our second Kuleana and Community Talk Story.
Our speaker will be Gerald DeMello talking about preserving Hawai’i’s history.
Meet students from Japan and Taiwan while learning Japanese from a Japanese university! UH Hilo students have been invited to participate in an online program with students from Kansai University in Osaka, Japan and Soochow University in Taipei, Taiwan. The program will be a series of classes led by students at Kansai University who are in a program to be teachers of Japanese to non-native speakers (like a Japanese TESOL certificate). The classes will be in Japanese and English although the purpose is to allow you to use Japanese as much as possible. The students from UH Hilo and Soochow University will work together with the Japanese teachers to practice Japanese. It is a great way to use your Japanese in a realistic situation and meet students from Japan and Taiwan. There is no cost to participate and the classes will be offered over two weeks on Zoom from August 19-September 2. There will be five sessions and they will be offered between 4:00 and 5:00 pm Hawai’i time. Some Japanese proficiency is recommended, however, there are no entrance requirements except that you are a current UH Hilo student. See flyer above for more information, dates of the program, and a QR code with the program application. There is a limited number of spaces available for UH Hilo students, so, if you are interested, please complete the application as soon as possible. The deadline to apply is July 30.
