Two of the prettiest scenes in the Gallery are also the simplest, most peaceful scenes. Holly’s wonderful use of color and shading, her intuitive brush capturing the poignant moving stillness and tranquility in these quiet places. Evoking the tranquil serene inhalation of early morning on the marsh and the peaceful privacy of the quintessential a back country road, Holly has masterfully conjured both the scene and feeling of reconciled lightness in one fell swoop. Serenity now in all her glories in oil on canvas and haloed by hand-painted gold wooden frames. Don’t let these beauties pass slip through your fingers, they will not be here long! 🖼

It’s International Womens Day and we’re celebrating the wonderful women in ours! We’ve had the privilege and honor of working with these incredible artists - women in our local community who have marched to the beat of their own drum and taken the world on in their stride, breaking barriers, borders and beating the odds, striving to reach their own potential and achieve their dreams, inspire the next generation of creatives and change the world.

These artists, scientists, philanthropists, writers, community activists, civil rights leaders, poets, veterans, nurses, world travelers, missionaries, healers, entrepreneurs, teachers, mothers, daughters, sisters, and friends are all in one and one in all. All these things, these achievements and lifetimes of work and inspiration and sacrifice and dedication (and more!) in just this one carousel. How many more could join this list and how many more to come? We celebrate you today and every day for your creativity and bravery and courage to share it with the world, moving and inspiring the many, and the many, many more to come. Thank you.

If you’re from the South, you’re also celebrating Celebration Month, honoring the ancestry, history and culture of the Gullah Geechee people up and down the Gullah corridor on the East coast. We’re kicking off the celebrations on our page starting with our dear friend and prolific Gullah figure in the community, . Shining bright on the cover of the February issue of , Sonja is an artistic figurehead, activist, jewelry maker, entrepreneur and advocate for and with her community. Sonja’s pieces speak deeply to us, sharing the rich heritage and culture of the Gullah Geechee people and their journey.

A veteran and local artist, intuitive poet and story-maker, Sonja’s pieces are especially poignant and layered, often accompanied by her poetry or a story from the subjects point of view, and creating these windows into the past, weaving them into her pieces in a way that highlights our shared history in the American South while championing the journey of the Gullah Geechee community and the successes and trials they have overcome since their journey, and still even now, in a moving, very meaningful way.

We are deeply honored and proud to call this artist and human being a friend and advocate, and to celebrate her moving artistry, her Gullah heritage and history.

Sonja is a lifelong Beaufort native. Her work can be found exclusively at the in Bluffton, South Carolina.

Did you know that the 2022 color of the year is Very Peri? “A new Pantone color whose courageous presence encourages personal inventiveness and creativity.”

“Displaying a carefree confidence and a daring curiosity that animates our creative spirit, inquisitive and intriguing PANTONE 17-3938 Very Peri helps us to embrace this altered landscape of possibilities, opening us up to a new vision as we rewrite our lives.”

Carefree confidence, daring curiosity and personal inventiveness are three ways to describe these incredible pieces, (and the artist!) that completely invoke the spirit and periwinkle power of this years color. A color that was created for the first time in the history of the Pantone program, specifically because, “As society continues to recognize color as a critical form of communication, and a way to express and affect ideas and emotions and engage and connect, the complexity of this new red violet infused blue hue highlights the expansive possibilities that lay before us”.

And nothing could be truer or more ably expressed in Jenan’s pieces, than the expansive possibilities that lay before us.

DM for more information on these pieces or to purchase.

“If I cannot do great things, i can do small things in a great way.” - Martin Luther King, Jr.

Blue Monday be damned, we’re making big moves this week, made up of small great moments and big great things. As I tell my 8-year old every day, “do great things today.”

Our personal favorite in the Gallery right now, this beauty is pure Heaven. “You in Me”
from the inspired whimsy of Jenan McClain has us mesmerized. Get lost in these delicate pastel pinks, twirling petals around lustrous limes and citrus-y chartreuse. Framed in gold that highlights the subtle undertones across the canvas, You in Me highlights any wall, inspiring, lending calm strength and peace.

Thrilled to announce that the wonderful is in the Gallery!! Through March, you’ll have the opportunity to stop in and fall in love with her beautiful waterscapes and poetic artistry and take some home for yourself! Throughout the week we’ll be debuting Jenan’s pieces and giving you a sneak peak of her latest exhibition!

Jenan’s art transcends her canvas and takes us to a place where poetry and art meet to create an experience. Her words, thoughtful and deeply moving, often accompany her artwork and bring the viewer to a place both vulnerable and inspiring. “Accompany” is the perfect word for her pieces, as with each word, often shared from personal experiences, add layers to her canvas that help bring these waterscapes to life.

Jenan will also be featured as a BPI Plein Air Experience Artist, exhibiting her latest plein air pieces created on Bay Point Island during our Silent Auction benefitting the Bay Point Island Foundation on December 11.
