The end of the year is here! Our 8th grade students will graduate at the end of this week, so congratulations are in order. A celebration will take place on Wednesday, May 29th which includes lunch, games, inflatables, music, and raffles. Thank you to all those who donated to support this fun event and the parents who are volunteering their time to assist at the lunch and celebration. We couldn’t do it without you!

Back to School Day is scheduled for Tuesday, August 13th. Students can pick up and walk schedules, collect Chromebooks (6th graders, please bring your iPads to return), buy awesome new Spirit Wear and more!! Please make BTSD a great success by volunteering a few hours to help the PTO.

There are times when HMS families are in need of basic living essentials. To ensure student privacy and dignity, a new PTO committee, Families Helping Families (FHF) has been formed (FHF has been a long standing committee at Hinsdale Central High School). All referrals will go through the HMS social workers. Lisa DiFranco (8th grade SW) will be our main contact. FHF is completely self-funded and will rely 100% on monetary donations and the generosity of the HMS community and committee members. FHF plans to do 1-2 fundraisers a year. Please contact Denys at [email protected] if you have interest in being part of the FHF committee or have any questions. FHF will rely on committee members to help with fundraising and provide item donations when referrals are brought to our attention. We will not need to meet as a committee, all communications will be done through emails. Thank you in advanced for your consideration in joining!

The 18th Annual Walk the Walk for Mental Health is May 19th at The Community House!
The Walk the Walk for Mental Health is not your average walk. It is a one-mile Color Walk that celebrates mental and physical wellness, access to mental health services, and ending the stigma associated with discussing mental health with friends, family and community.

The school team with the most participants wins The Big Blue Shoe trophy and a donation to the D181 Foundation in their name. Join the HMS team when you REGISTER to Walk for Mental Health!

Please join us Friday, 5/17 at 9:30am for the final general PTO Meeting of the year. We will be voting in our future executive board and next year’s budget, and we need your votes! We will also be thanking those who served this past year or for several years on committees/board positions.

How can you secure preferred seating and parking to the 2024 Graduation Ceremony? The only way is to enter the raffle and take your chances.
SEATING – Two families will win four reserved seats each for graduation on Friday, May 31st. Raffle tickets are $25 each or five tickets for $100.
PARKING – Two cars will have Preferred Parking parking spaces on the HMS parking deck for the graduation ceremony. Preferred Parking tickets are $15 each or five for $60.
TO ENTER, please send funds via ZELLE to [email protected]. Be sure to include your name and whether you are entering the seating, parking or both raffles. ALL entries must be purchased by Saturday, May 11th.

Graduation is right around the corner and that means a CELEBRATION is in order! The 8th Grade Graduation Celebration will take place on Wednesday, May 29th from 1 to 3pm on the HMS Field. There will be games, inflatables, pictures, music and fun for all. In order to make the event a success, we need LOTS of parent volunteers to help supervise the activities. HMS celebrated National Therapy Dog Day last Tuesday. To honor the hard work and dedication of therapy dogs who bring comfort, joy, and emotional support to people in need, an HMS family dog named Ginger, came to visit after school. The HMS students, staff, and parents enjoyed their time with Ginger. If you are interested in learning more about the human-animal bond and the opportunities available to be a registered animal-assisted therapy handler through Pet Partners Organization, visit petpartners.org. National Teacher Appreciation Week is May 6-10th. Teachers make a positive and impactful influence on students that last a lifetime. To show our sincere gratitude, the PTO staff appreciation committee will be celebrating the HMS staff with special events throughout the week. We need your help! This is a wonderful opportunity to learn about the many ways you and your child can get involved during their time at Hinsdale Central. Thanks to all who attended our parent night this week and those who purchased raffle tickets. It was a fun casual event for parents to get together and meet. The event raised $1750 for the PTO! We had some very excited raffle winners!

Parents night out is close!

Students with 504s and IEPs and/or their parents are invited to join us for a fun night of pizza and games on Thursday, 4/11 at 6:30pm. This is a great opportunity for rising freshmen and families to meet others and connect.

The 7th grade students presented their Call To Action projects on 3/20 in the cafetorium welcoming parents. Topics ranged from food safety, mental health, AI, to climate control and much more. Thank you to the 7th grade ELA and social studies teachers for helping our students research their topics. Many thanks to the PTO for purchasing the decorations and volunteers (Carrie Rozich and Heather Jashnani) and custodians for setting up the cafetorium.
