MAGNUM OPUS 2022 4x4x48 ✅🏁
What is 4x4x48? 4 miles every 4 hours for 48 hours.
This is something ive wanted to complete before the end of 2022.
I heard about this from my muse Cameron Hanes and another savage David Goggins.
I questioned if I had the stamina or the endurance to complete such a physical task. (still do)
At the end I found I felt better than ever and decided to go an extra 4 miles for an actual 52 hours to solidify the full 48 hours. I had my best runs at 20:00hrs, midnight, and 04:00 hours in the early morning oddly enough. Midday I had some sugar cravings from what I assumed was glycogen store depletion. I had some great moments to be more pensive on the runs as well as the rest periods since sleeping was not much of an option. 1st it would have been much better to do with someone to keep morale high and drown out any self-doubt (someone I can count on) 2nd I thought, hmmmm, what’s next? For early 2023 ill ramp it up and complete a 5x5x55. Has anyone else done this and what did you experience, and would you do it again or attempt a 5x5x55?? I loved that this is not a race for time, it's just motoring thru and doing something challenging. I don’t have any sponsors or anything like that- tho my hoka one one did help me make it thru while running thru some aches, pains and a handful of nags in my salty old meat wagon!
