It is with profound sadness that we share that Mrs. Barbara McKay has passed. Barb and her husband Ralph were the original owners of the building in which Holly Antiques is located. At the time it was McKay's Hardware and was a pillar in the community! Ralph unfortunately passed at a very young age leaving Barb to raise 6 children and keep the business going! She's an amazing woman and we will miss her terribly. Our hearts go out to the children and grandchildren. To read the full obituary, please go to the Dryer Funeral homepage.

Holly Antiques: Our Story

In 1967, determined not to be just a farmer, Ralph McKay purchased one of the Victorian buildings in downtown Holly, Michigan with the goal of opening a hardware store. This was the beginning of a well respected and loved family owned and operated business managed and built with the help of his wife Barbara and their six children. Sadly, Ralph passed away suddenly in 1977, leaving Barb to split her duties between rearing a family and running the now successful hardware business. To her credit, and with much hard work, perseverance and amazing attitude, she mastering both.

Eventually, McKay’s Hardware at 118 S. Saginaw was moved north of town for expansion and the old store became an Antique Shop which has existed for 20 years under different owner/managers.

Previous business owners were Bill Prim as “Antiques On Main” and then Mark Hay as “Holly Antiques On Main.” Upon Mr. Hays’ departure, the business was operated briefly by Barbara McKay until the property and the business along with it was sold to the current owners. Since January of 2017, the business has been owned and operated by Jerome Raska and Robbin Yelverton and is named simply “Holly Antiques”. Jerome and Robbin also own Blumz... by JRDesigns, Floral & Events, a well know and respected floral and event company with locations in Detroit, Ferndale and also Holly.

Although “new” to Antiques, their goal has been to take the business that was in place, refine it, re-organize it, and build a successful business that continues to offer beautiful antique, vintage and collectible items, quality customer service, a pleasant atmosphere, and helpful staff. Raska and Yelverton have already made a name for themselves in the Holly area through their community involvement and lively personalities! While the new owners are bringing their extensive knowledge and experience in retail to the equation, its the vendors that sell their wares within the walls of Holly Antiques that truly add the spice and flavor to the business. Some of the same vendors have been there throughout the years. The store currently houses over 25 vendors as well as consignors.
