POA is known for our progressive and innovative socket designs, silicone liners, and numerous other proprietary/patented technologies. That said – we also put that same innovation and progressive thinking to use in more traditional designs. Here is a video of Carina showing off her new symes prosthesis with a pelite liner and anatomical suspension
We just had to share.
Kelly was told by several other prosthetic providers that she could not be fit with a prosthesis and would never walk. She was referred to POA and fit with our NPS socket 1 week ago. She came back for her one week follow up and is now able to walk without any assistance!
We are honored to be part of your journey and are so incredibly proud of you Kelly. IMUA!
Taking care of pediatric patients is so rewarding. Watching our keiki grow, achieve their goals, and become independent young adults is such a blessing - it is a privilege and honor we do not take for granted.
Carina was one of Cameron's very first prosthetic patients when he relocated to Hawaii over 7 years ago. Fast Forward - she has graduated High School, works full time, and is living her best life. We are so happy to have her as part of our growing Ohana.
POA's Cameron Lehrer, CPO, FAAOP has been designing and fitting asymmetrical scoliosis braces for over 12 years. All of our designs utilize a series of 3-dimensional forces that derotate and straighten the spine for improved postural balance and in-brace curve correction. All of our spinal solutions are custom tailored to meet the unique needs of your child using the most advanced computer aided design and manufacturing techniques available - CAD / CAM.
Happy Aloha Friday everyone! So stoked on the finish of Scooter's new NPS socket. We love seeing our patients take pride in the finish of their devices. We believe your device should not only fit and function properly, but be a reflection of who you are, what you have overcome, and what you want to achieve.
We are creators, innovators, and problem solvers ready to help!
Our American Board Certified Prosthetists have experience working with patients of all ages and ability levels - from paralympic athletes to grandparents wishing to regain their mobility and independence after amputation (and everyone in between). We love designing/fitting surf and running prostheses, but helping our Kupuna brings a smile to our faces too!
Happy Aloha Friday!
We are so happy to get this update from Carter - one of POA's Surf Crew. This guy cannot, and will not, be stopped. One lung, one leg AND STILL CHARGING! So STOKED! 🤙(Double Shaka)🤙

Aloha Friends & Family,
I am excited to share with you some news!!! I was just chosen to participate in the Maxim Magazine Covergirl contest.
As you know, I have been modeling for over 10+ years. It has not been an easy road, not an inviting one for a person with a disability but alas, it is my passion. I have made some amazing strides of which I am very proud, but of course, it would be a dream to really excel within the industry. Not only would winning this contest help my career tremendously but I think even more importantly, my win would help shine a light on inclusion which is extremely important for our current and future generations.
Voting begins Monday, and I would really appreciate it if you could vote for me and spread the word! I will be posting again Monday!!
Thank you all again and I appreciate your help!
Love,
Shaholly
Afternoon rainbow from the 15th floor view
POA's open concept is complimented by incredible views of Oahu's south shore. The afternoon rainbows, seen over Manoa Valley, are pretty spectacular too.
POA Hawaii is the first, and only, open concept O&P facility in the state.
POA patient Scott "Scooter Metcalfe giving some mentorship and stoke to one of our Keiki.
Last night - POA's Bella and her family ran into POA Intern Elena (soon-to-be "Hot Shot" Master of O&P student). We love seeing our POA ohana connect.
CONGRATULATIONS is in order. Our intern Elena was just accepted into graduate school! We are so incredibly proud of her.
The POA Ohana will absolutely miss having her around the clinic, and Cameron is really going to miss her Mandarin and Cantonese translation abilities - but we could not be happier or more excited for her to take this next step in her O&P journey.
If you see her around the clinic - make sure to congratulate and wish her luck before she leaves.
So Carter is a total nut (in a great way) and an absolute blast to work with.
In December of 2019 he was hospitalized and left fighting for his life due to complications with influenza. The combination of flu and pneumonia left Carter’s body vulnerable to a “super infection” of methicillin-susceptible staphylococcus aureus (MSSA). This eventually required removal of his right lung, a right below knee amputation and left partial foot amputation.
His tenacity and passion for surfing kept him motivated through the first 1.5 years of his road to recovery. He is back on Oahu and remains motivated to return to an active island lifestyle of surfing and skating.
We are honored and blessed to be part of your journey. Welcome to the POA Ohana Carter!
Big week for Josh. He received his water/surfing prostheses with a grant from 50 Legs ( www.50legs.org ). In addition to his Karate kicks, he took the podium at the HSA Surf contest in Hali'ewa 's adaptive division.
CONGRATULATIONS Josh!🏆🏅🏄
March is National Cerebral Palsy Awareness Month, and March 25th is Cerebral Palsy Awareness Day.
During the month of March, individuals living with cerebral palsy as well as family members and activists come together by advocating for the cerebral palsy community. The goal of National Cerebral Palsy Awareness Month is to push for positive change in education programs, the health care system, and the job market to give opportunities to those living with CP.
Supporters, activists, and advocates can celebrate by wearing the color green, spreading awareness, and donating to organizations that provide aid and resources to those living with CP.
Two of POA's favorite munchkins stopped by to pick up a new Spiderman leg and have some fun in our clinic. Thanks for stopping by twins!
