Tea Chest Hawaii was honored to serve as the tea purveyor for First Lady Jaime Kanani Green’s Afternoon Tea at Washington’s Place. In her remarks, Mrs. Green fondly recalled Queen Liliuokalani, who cherished hosting tea parties at the residence. To honor the Queen, a silver tea service tray was displayed, and the white holoku she wore in photos was recognized as her tea dress.

Byron and Satomi Goo are teamakers who draw on their Hawaiian, Chinese, and Japanese heritage, each with their own culture of tea, to bring teas with a sense of place to the modern table.
The company draws on decades-long relationships with tea farmers to deliver delicious teas, whether it’s a sencha meant to pair with Pacific Rim cuisine or a tropical iced tea that evokes sitting on a lanai in Hawaii watching the sun set. While Tea Chest Hawaii sources directly from farmers in India, China, Taiwan, and Japan—each tea-growing region offering its own distinct flavor profiles—the company also works with a burgeoning tea industry in Hawaii, helping tea farmers craft high-quality products with flavors found nowhere else in the world.
