Located on the corner of McCully and Kapiolani, directly in front of the Ala Wai Boat house. WBBCC welcomes all new paddlers at any time of the year.
The Waikiki Beachboys Canoe Club (WBBCC) formed in 1973 by a group of Waikiki BeachBoys to promote surfing and outrigger canoe paddling, while spreading the spirit of Aloha See Google Maps for location; https://www.google.com/maps/dir//Boat+House,+Crane+Community+Park,+Honolulu,+HI+96826/@21.2887361,-157.8310448,18z/data=!4m13!1m4!3m3!1s0x7c006d8d1e3010a5:0x60578301e9cd93f5!2sBoat+House!3b1!4m7!1m0!1m5!1m1!1s0x7c006d8d1e3010a5:0x60578301e9cd93f5!2m2!1d-157.831414!2d21.288815
KIRA race #2.
OC1 Women’s 50 2nd place
OC2 Mens 2nd place
I am sad to say that Alex Apo, one of the original Head Coaches for Waikiki Beach Boys, passed away last Sunday. He was 90 years young and always had a love for the sport of outrigger canoe paddling.
FIRST PLACE in A division! Great job everyone! 2 gold, 2 siliver, 1 bronze! And todays trophy is honored to Steve Gerwig who steered the men’s Sophmore and men’s 40s to gold!
Tied for second in A division points.
Great day of regatta. Don’t always have to medal cuz points is points! Second place A division. I would like to edit this post by saying that todays win would not be possible without Coach Swensonʻs dedication and the hard work the NovBs have put into this club. I canʻt emphasize enough how proud I am tonight of your enthusiasm that you bring to the table . Thank you.
For 20 years, our beloved Kamoho Ali'i, Koa canoe, sat in storage while trying to figure out how to restore it and bring her back to the water. This past Sunday, Memorial Day weekend, our 2023 paddlers came to visit her, carry her, and dust her, while the storage building undergoes construction work. Then that afternoon, we started to receive several messages such as "I have been inspired today by towing and laying hands on our Koa canoe, and I would like your help." A donation check of $5,000 arrived Sunday evening, a donation website was created, and within 2 days, matching donations arrived! Aunty Rae Kamaka started a fundraiser bank account for Koa Restoration a while ago, and we are so pleased to announce, that this week, we have increased it by 43 times.
In 1973, "the original founders of WBBCC were: Kimo Makua, Ted Bush, Bob Nagatani and Moku Kamaka. These BeachBoys walked up and down Waikiki beach, collecting $25 from friends and tourists" and founded our canoe club.

Signal boosting this event!
As a group that heavily utilizes the Ala Wai Canal, it would be awesome for us to show up and mālama i ka wai by getting our hands dirty making genki balls!! This is one way to kōkua and exhibit stewardship of our environment & neighborhood.
RSVP link is included in the flyer! **Please note a donation of $5 per genki ball is customary, to pay for the genki ball supplies, instruction, and hosting the event.** 💙🤍 Mahalo, Beachboys!
Sometimes you have to take pride in your club with a little yardwork and repair.

Friends that dine together, paddle together. Tonight at Kalo Hawaiian Food managed by our very own steersman Kazu! What an amazing food on a nice space in Waikiki. Valet parking at the beautiful Marriot Courtyard is a hidden city gem oasis.
Truckers hats in the house.
Message from Beachboys President Dana Yaross:
For the past 14 seasons, as your President, I have had the privilege of carrying on the values and traditions our Founders established for our Canoe Club in 1973. During this time, I have been a part of incredible group of people who have rebuilt Waikiki BeachBoys Canoe Club, purchased three new canoes, tripled our membership, achieved numerous records, championships and garnered over $40000 in sponsorship. I extend many thanks to all that have served as an officer and/or coach over these years. A huge thank you to Sean Monahan and Sue Brown for all the hours, dedication and sacrifice you both have given to WBBBC in order for us to achieve the great success! A special thank you to Rae Kamaka, for continuing to support WBBCC and ensue that all stayed moving forward with the right purpose and intentions!
It is now time for me to support the transition of our Club to a new Leader and team. Although I am available and willing to support the transition, I need everyoneʻs help to identify a NEW President, officers (some of the current are willing to stay on) and Coaches for this season. We need to have an annual meeting in the next few weeks to vote on Club Officers. Please EMAIL me, Sue Brown, Todd and Maria asap with what you are willing to do and/or names for PRESIDENT, COACHES and OFFICERS.
This year the Men put in 4 crews and everyone finished and returned safely some with more interesting stories than others. Thank you to all the ladies that came out to support at the end and making this journey one to remember. A great end to a fantastic season!
