The Autumn equinox in ancestral traditions is a time of gratitude for the bountiful harvest from the earth. It’s a celebration gathering loved ones in sumptuous feast.
The Celestial event represents balance, between light and dark energies in harmony, thus offering a time for reflection and introspection. As you walk the spiritual path, this time of year calls on activating a new growth cycle. We become silent and rest, allowing space for a greater vision to emerge. We experience an equilibrium between our external experiences and our inner spiritual journey. This balance allows us to see ourselves more clearly, enabling us to make the necessary adjustments for personal growth.
As Hawaii enters the makahiki season, the night sky offers spectacular meteor showers streaking through the heavens nightly. Orionids and Geminids Meteors dazzle us from October through November offering plenty opportunities to “wish upon a star” as we approach winter. The ancient Polynesian navigators relied on the movements of the stars to travel over the vast Pacific Ocean. You can admire “Hanaiakamalama” “Foster child of the Moon” also known as the Southern Cross constellation. One of the most essential constellations known to the early navigators, it can be seen in the southern sky just above the horizon before sunrise. As we approach the Spring Equinox, also known as Ke Ala’ula a Kane in Hawaii, the sun crosses the plane of the equator making day and night of equal length, thus marking the first day of Spring.

A turning point toward the light and Spring’s renewal. This is the time of year when we begin to experience more life force and creative energy within our minds and bodies.

During this time, we journey through the Hawaiian lunar months of Nana (march 3-31) and Welo (April1-30) witnessing changes in the islands like the rains soon fading as the sun shines brighter, or the rough seas of the North beginning to shift to calmer waters.
The winter was a time of self reflection, a time of pō(night). The return of the light present us with an opportunity to take time to release our fears and surrender into new intentions for ourselves.

Now is a time of celebrating the freshness of life and of taking the time to raise our energy to regenerate abundance and manifest dreams. A time to take action, to inspire, and to make change.

Most of us live our lives so disconnected from our internal guidance that when the pull of our heart becomes so strong, the feeling that arises within us feels more like a crisis than an emergence into something more beautiful.

Hawaii holds a special place in the hearts of people around the world. The islands emanate love and aloha, offering a sanctuary for rejuvenation, relaxation, and the creation of cherished memories.

It is important to recognize that the eyes of the world are upon us during times like these. In the face of adversity, the Hawaiian community acts swiftly and decisively to aid in recovery and rebuilding efforts. The resiliency, mana, and love deeply woven into Hawaiian culture serve as a remarkable example of true strength. While a catastrophic blaze brings forth a period of mourning, it also ignites a surge of motivation for proactive change.

As we move forward, we must contemplate how to forge a path toward a safer and enhanced future. We have the opportunity to construct a renewed way of life – one that safeguards the land in reciprocity, nurturing us as we nurture it. This circumstance underscores the urgency to address and rectify the environment impacts that pollution has inflicted upon our planet. The response to this disaster demonstrates the remarkable accomplishments that can arise when we extend our care to others, including the Earth, and collaborate harmoniously.
