Kalikoaloha Martin, POLS Ph.D. candidate, received the Frances Davis Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching.
The Frances Davis Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching for a faculty and a graduate assistant recognizes the dedication and demonstrated excellence as teachers of undergraduate students. It was established as a memorial to the late Frances Davis, who taught mathematics at Leeward Community College and the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa for 19 years.
One of our POLS student assistants, Binierose Cacho, was also recognized with the Student Employee of the Year Award!
The Student Employee of the Year Program was created in 1986 by the Mānoa Career Center to recognize and highlight the achievements and contributions of student employees on the UH Mānoa campus.

We are excited to invite you to another spring series colloquium hosted by the Department of Political Science, co-sponsored by the Department of Ethnic Studies and Center for Biographical Research, and partially sponsored by the Student Activity and Program Fee Board and UH SEED IDEAS.
Dr. Kealani Cook, Dr. Noenoe K. Silva, Dr. Dean Itsuji Saranillio, and Dr. Iokepa Casumbal-Salazar will come together in a panel to discuss four different approaches to understanding the ways that Kanaka ‘Ōiwi and other Oceanic peoples sought to maintain and develop their political and cultural coherence under imperial and colonial administration.
The colloquium will take place on Friday, April 14th, from 2:30 pm to 4 pm in Saunders 624. For those unable to attend in person, a Zoom link is provided below.
