1.What do you love most about Shanti Yoga?
The kindness, authenticity, and humor that each teacher brings to the community; enabling us to just be who we are, where we are, centered in our own strength because we are held in this way.
2. Do you enjoy Yoga classes, Strength Classes or both?
Since my practice is mostly about finding a soft place to land amid the demands of a full life, I mostly enjoy Yoga classes, and I love Energetic Equilibrium. The strength classes are amazing, but my inclination to attend them is occasional based on my courage level on any given day 😂
3. What has a consistent practice at Shanti helped you cultivate in your life?
Oh, I am so much more centered, more able to take the waves of activity and strain in life and let them wash over and past me. I am stronger too, and can rely on my own body in new ways; hiking the longer trail, loading a kayak with ease, getting fewer colds, understanding what is needed when an ache arises. A year of regular Yoga has truly shifted all aspects of life toward a higher vitality. I am so grateful to Shanti, Jenn, and all the teachers for this.
Friends, families… so many beautiful configurations! Happy weekend Shanti Fam! ❤️😃❤️
🧘♂️ Kelly is a home grown teacher, having graduated from our first in house foundational training! (our next one begins in September of 2025!
☝️In addition to being an amazing Yoga teacher and invaluable admin. for Shanti, Kelly is also a mental health councilor, specializing in working with young adults.
😬 Don't let her quiet demeanor fool you....Kelly will hold you in side angle lunge for 20 min. on average (🥵😜😂)
Still time to register for her class tonight (covering for Neil) at 6:30 p.m. in Hop!
☝️Mid week reminder....you've got this, Shanti fam ❤️
All the same goodness, with just a little extra time to get out and enjoy the sunshine! ☀️
👯♀️ Some of our FAVORITE duos 🥰
🧘♂️🧘♂️Couples, friends, family....we love all these faces and how many configurations we find in each and every class. It's just part of what makes this community so special 🙏
Still time to register for class with Linda tonight at 5 p.m. in Hopkinton!
😱 Linda has been teaching Fitness and yoga for 32 years!
☝️Her classes are carefully and intricately sequenced and always involve a bit of "sneaky strength."
😻 Linda loves her family, movement and her cats....in that order, most days 🤣
☝️Mid week reminder ....you're not doing it wrong. This is why we practice. Love ya, Shanti fam ❤️
Still time to register for class with Leanne tonight in Hopkinton, 6:30 p.m. Hot Flow (windows will be open...🥵🥰
🦄 Leanne teaches the kind of flows you get lost in...totally dreamy.
👯♀️ In addition to teaching Yoga, Leanne is a real estate MAVEN, along with her partner Elizabeth, who teaches for Shanti also!
☕ Leanne should be given an honorary spot on the board at Dunkies for the amount of coffee she consumes. Black. Iced. Always.
🥳 Member Monday Spotlight🥳
Meet Brian B. 🥰
1. What do you love most about Shanti Yoga?
I always feel welcomed and supported by the Shanti community, both teachers and students. No matter my physical or mental state when I walk in, when I leave I feel so much better. Shanti is one of my "happy places."
I also love the diversity of the classes. The yoga flows can get very creative, they do not follow a prescribed formula. I alternate my workouts between Yoga and Strength classes, it gives me a sense of cosmic balance.
2. Do you enjoy Yoga classes, Strength Classes or both?
I'm addicted to both!
Yoga gives me so many things. But I'm now 60, and strength is important to me. I've more than doubled my weights since I started taking Strength classes.
I'll also add for anyone reading this who may be intimidated about taking a Strength class, if I can do it you can too! For me consistency is key.
3. What has a consistent practice at Shanti helped you cultivate in your life?
Where do I start?
A strong body of course.
I'm now trained to instinctively use breath to prepare for adversity. I found this out during the very beginning of the pandemic when one of my family had a very scary medical emergency and I went straight to breathing to get BOTH of us through it.
I know my own limits better and I'm also less judgmental of myself, and more forgiving of myself. In turn, I find I'm also less judgmental and more forgiving toward others. Our world could use more of this (please?) !!
We are so grateful you are a part of our community Brian!!!
SEVEN...years ago...❤️ Nothing could've prepared me for the wonder, importance, challenge and ultimate gift of this grass roots Yoga sanctuary....I look forward to celebrating with you all tomorrow 🧘♂️🙏❤️
Of ➡️ Through ➡️ To ➡️ ❤️
🧘♂️In class this morning with the lovely Jen Russo, I was reminded of this quote from the The Bhagavad Gita.…
🕉️“ Yoga is the journey of the self, through the self, to the self.”
☝️We can only hear and embrace this part of the teaching when we’re ready.
🤔Thirty years ago when I stepped into my first Yoga class because I wanted arms that were sculpted ike Madonna’s, I wouldn’t have been receptive to this message. I had to let the message actually live into and out of me….though it didn’t take long to realize there was something larger happening.
☝️From the first few moments in a yoga class, you’re quite literally on a journey of the self….this is my physical body. My skin, bones, muscular tissue…this is the stuff from which I am made.
🎆As you continue, you’re guided still deeper, teetering on the edge of awareness of the more subtle part of “you,” the energetic body, your intellect, the wise heart. For me the culmination has always been the “to.”
🌅At the end of practice, when the work is done, we can step away and experience, if only for a moment, that space within that is boundless. And it’s not just the yogis who have referenced this “space.”
🙏As the saying goes, “Many doors, one temple.”
💙In the 14th century, Meister Eckhart, the 14th-century German mystic wrote, ’There is a place in the soul that neither time, nor space, nor any created thing can touch.’ Sound familiar?
⭐All the wisest of hearts and minds have always been guiding us back to the same place…at your center, you are divine.
🥳Jen's back!!! 🥳🥳🥳
☝️Jen Russo is a graduate of our in house teacher training (our next one starts in September of 2025!)
☝️She sequences the most beautiful flows and is a master at weaving resonant themes into her classes.
☝️Jen loves her family, Yoga and sneakers....in that order...though sneakers might jump to the top of the list on occasion 🤣
🧘♂️Come practice with her tomorrow in Hop!
9:30 a.m. Hot Flow
11 a.m. Strength
☝️There are two environments proven to have a high concentration of negative ions in the air, which have a profound impact on our well-being, from improving mood and mental clarity to boosting the immune system and enhancing overall vitality--
🌊 Land near a body of water that rolls or crashes into earth/rock (think, sitting at the beach.)
🌲lush forest canopy (think, a walk in the woods.)
🧘♂️With nearly 30 years of first hand experience, I’d add a third….a community centered Yoga studio…. There’s just something about that Shanti energy.🥰
❤️🤍💙We hope you got to spend some time in a setting that raised your vibration, made your heart happy and brought things into focus.
🎆Happy Independence Day, Shanti fam!
Hopefully, this post will be gold for you, twofold.
I just finished reading, 28 Summers, by Elin Hilderbrand. It is the quintessential summer beach read—Set in Nantucket. Centered around a romance. Lots of love, heartbreak and challenge along the way. I just started reading, The English Patient, by Michael Ondaatje. It is breathtakingly beautiful and reads differently…almost like poetry. This work is historical fiction, set in Europe, lots of love, heartbreak and challenge along the way.
These two books, are works of fiction. They fall under the same umbrella. That being said, the way they interpret storytelling couldn’t be more different.
When I think about what we offer at Shanti, this is how I’d describe it. We all teach Vinyasa, but how we interpret it, varies…from teacher to teach and class to class. Some of us move more fluidly. Some of us tell stories. Some teachers weave more strength based movements into their flows. Some teachers really focus on the mindfulness aspect of the practice.
I, and as numbers have proven, YOU, love it all. And I honestly believe that’s because there is so much to love about this practice. It is so heartening to see this community continue to grow and shape itself around us and the beauty of our differences.
We are grateful…and now you have two amazing summer reads!!
Sweaty smiles are the BEST smiles 😅 We see all your beautiful, strong faces and we LOVE IT! Come see what it's all about 😍
Happy Summer, Shanti Fam! Both of our studios will be closed on Thursday to observe the 4th of July Holiday 🎆🎆🎆
🚨Class Duration Change!🚨
The Tuesday Hot Flow with Esther will now be 60 minutes through the remainder of summer! Don't miss her grounding and strong flow every Tuesday in Hopkinton at 9:30 a.m!

🧘♂️Annual Unlimited Membership--$1260 (normally $1400)
We are so grateful to YOU, our amazing community...you make it all possible 😍😍😍
I'm a bit of a dinosaur, it's true 😆🦖 I still use a paper planner and WRITE DOWN all appointments with A PEN 😱 I admit--I actually love hanging on to this low tech ritual. It feels important. Another really important way I keep myself accountable and grounded is by scheduling out my week of movement. On Sunday, I sit down and use my purple pen to schedule out the classes I'm going to take and other self care. I have learned, I MUST make time for myself. It's not a luxury, it's a necessity and I know if I put it in pen, I'll be there.
Have you booked yourself into your classes for the week, Shanti Fam? It's a great rainy day activity and it looks like we're going to get some boomers! 🧘♂️❤️
At our heart, it's what sets us apart ❤️ Strength in Community has been our motto since Day 1 🧘♂️ We celebrate seven years together on July 7th! Here's to seven more, Shanti Fam 🥳
Food for thought.....❤️ Happy Weekend, Shanti Fam ☀️
🥳 Shanti Yoga Hopkinton celebrates SEVEN years of service on July 7th. Lucky. Number. Seven! My goodness….I truly feel an abundance of blessings as we head into our eighth year. ❤️
Interestingly, the number 7 holds spiritual significance and importance across many traditions—there are the seven colors of the rainbow and the seven wonders of the world. In the Bible the number seven features prominently and in numerology, seven signifies asking questions, researching, listening, and sensing. The seventh card in a tarot deck , The Chariot, is on a quest, using both focus and intention to drive their energy toward their purpose. The seventh letter of the alphabet is “G” which of course, lands as GRATEFUL for us, for all that you have contributed to our community over these many years.
The list of wonderful things we’ve accomplished could have no end, but here are seven, in no particular order
~We opened in 2017 and literally doubled our membership in one year.
~Over the last seven years, we have seen devoted students become exceptional teachers.
~Collectively we have raised well over $100,000 for larger and local charities, such as Boston Children’s Hospital, Project Just Because and The Natick Service Council.
~Our studio survived Covid. I just need to write that again….We. Survived. Covid….thanks to so many students who were able to pivot along side all the twists and turns those years threw at us.
~We welcomed our second hOMe away from home in Natick, celebrating one year of Yoga and community this past February.
~We have traveled together to Vermont, Italy and soon, Costa Rica!
~Lastly, and most importantly, we have continued to show up and see the ways in which belonging, sharing and rejoicing in the energy we co-create is a life changing practice.
We are all so grateful and look forward to another year of “Strength in Community!”
Please join me on Sunday, July 7th for a complimentary class at 8 a.m. so that we may celebrate this milestone together!
With So Much Love and Gratitude,
Jennifer and the Shanti Team
We are celebrating SEVEN YEARS together Shanti Fam! 🥳🧘♂️❤️
From now until July 7th, take advantage of these two incredible offers to continue on your journey with us, celebrating the practice of Yoga and COMMUNITY.
In addition to our regularly scheduled classes, as we head into year eight, look forward to more retreats (domestic and international,) Foundational and Advancing Teacher Training opportunities, and enriching and educational workshops for students of all levels!

Shanti Friends....looks like we are headed into a heat wave 🥵
We always emphasize the importance of being hydrated BEFORE you arrive for class and replenishing afterwards, but this becomes even more important when the weather starts to creep up into the 90's.
Please come to class hydrated, nourished and ready to listen to your body. You might get the message to rest more or move a little more slowly. Please listen ☝️ We look forward to seeing you for classes this week!

Our Story
At Shanti Yoga, our motto is "Strength in Community". The spirit behind this is two fold. First, come experience and celebrate your strength with a group of likeminded individuals, all wanting for the same outcome—to feel healthier, happier and more connected to our experience in the present moment.
Second, the people who come to our classes, enrich themselves and their community be realizing that we all belong and, regardless of particulars, are all connected. Robert Ingersoll said, “We rise by lifting others.”
Our skilled and exceptional teachers, truly care about you as a student and individual and will expertly guide you through a strong but spacious practice. Shanti Flow classes are heated and mildly heated and led in the Vinyasa style. We also offer a class format, Stretch & Restore, that weaves together Hatha Yoga and Restorative Yoga.
In addition to yoga and Barre classes, Shanti offers workshops for students as well as continuing education for existing teachers and Teacher Trainings.
