The purpose of this page is to keep Memorial High School parents informed about MHS PTA.
As a PTA, we are always adjusting to keep up with technology and how information is used. Our directory, both in print and online, is for use by our MHS families for MHS use. We do not provide our family directory information to outside entities, and we ask our families to use the information for school-related purposes as well. If you are a business, organization, individual, or group wanting to
It's time for the annual back-to-school traffic and drop-off/pick-up reminder. Some of us have been around a LONG time, so trust us when we tell you to be prepared.
1. Do NOT attempt to arrive on campus after 7:30 am. You'll be stuck in traffic. Traffic on Ga***rd, traffic on the freeway feeder trying to turn onto Echo, just general gridlock. You'll think, well they said that so everyone will go early and I'll get an extra few minutes of sleep and come later. Makes sense. The problem is, most of you will think this, along with the 200 juniors with parking spaces and the whole senior class. When you are sitting in line questioning all your life's choices, remember you were warned.
2. Do NOT try to drop off or pick up in random spots along Ga***rd. Remember all that traffic? You know what makes it worse? People dropping off in random spots along Ga***rd. The rest of us are going to stare at your kid while they walk in and we're writing down your license plate.
3. Do NOT try to pick up in the retail lots along Ga***rd, Are you excited about Chicken Salad Chick? All of those retailers are exited to have you visit them. All of those retailers are NOT excited to have you take up their parking spaces. The officer in the golf cart will come visit you...and they aren't interested in hearing about your challenges picking up your kid. You can try to ignore them, but they don't go away.
4. Do NOT drop off, pick up, or park in a teacher lot. Open House is on September 3rd. You can meet your student's teachers that evening. You don't want to meet them in the teacher lot. They have long memories...
5. Do NOT be THAT mom/dad at drop off. Have your kid get their backpack ready - along with any sports equipment, band instruments, lunches, school projects, summer reading, etc. Ask all your questions before you get to school. The people behind you will start rolling forward. The parents who have been around for a while and have somewhere else to be will not take mercy on you.
The campus pick-up and drop-off map was sent by email and it's available at mhspta.com. It's like hurricane prep - the time to get prepared is before you need it.
