For the 2024 Ob/Gyn Annual Faculty Development Session, our faculty had the opportunity to participate in a very engaging and hands-on Insights training facilitated by Mrs. Tomeka Johnson (BCM, Human Resources).
Each year, our Ob/Gyn department hosts an internal professional development session to assist faculty in learning and enhancing skill sets and techniques that are conducive to cultivating a safe and effective learning environment for our students and trainees. This year we focused on self-awareness and how unique styles bring value to the team.
Looks like the faculty really enjoyed themselves!!! Swipe ๐ to see more! ๐๐๐ค

Why did you join AMGO?
โI learned of AMGO through my Ob/Gyn administrator. I joined the organization in a communications role to assist with their marketing efforts. I also like to take advantage of the opportunities to connect ๐ค and network with other Ob/Gyn administrators ๐ฉโ๐ผ๐จโ๐ผ around the world ๐บ๏ธ๐, as I, too, aspire to be in a leadership role in the near future.โ- Tiara Gatewood, MA, MBA, Communications Associate, Baylor College of Medicine

Why did you join AMGO?
โI was lucky enough to find AMGO shortly after an internal transfer led to my daunting new role as Ob/Gyn Department Administrator. I felt in-over-my-head ๐ซ โ but my colleagues at AMGO helped me navigate the transition ๐. Seven years later, I am an efficient and confident Ob/Gyn Administrator ๐ฉโ๐ผ๐คbecause of the professional network I have developed within AMGOโ โ Dr. Meg Ferris, Vice President, AMGO Board of Directors.

Today marks the beginning of Black Maternal Health Week (BMHW)! This is a week-long campaign founded and led by the Black Mamas Matter Allianceโ (BMMA) to build awareness, activism, and community-buildingโ to amplify โthe voices, perspectives and lived experiences of Black Mamas and birthing people.
BMHW has been recognized by the Biden administration since 2021, coinciding with its announcement to increase investment in research and quality improvement initiatives geared at eliminating racial disparities which exist in maternal health outcomes, particularly those which adversely affect Black birthing people. The week is intentionally held during National Minority Health Month to join dozens of global organizations in marking this day as International Day for Maternal Health and Rights โ an opportunity to advocate for the elimination of maternal mortality globally.
For the 2nd year, our OB/GYN service at Harris Health Ben Taub is participating in BMHW and we are excited to invite you to participate in the upcoming activities!! (swipe โก๏ธโก๏ธโก๏ธโก๏ธ)
