It is with a heavy heart that we share with you the passing of one of our very own dedicated, committed, and faithful HBCU Alumni members, Mr. Dennis S. Brown (Proud Southern University and A&M College Graduate).

Dennis is being truly missed already!

Along with ensuring his Alma Mater was well represented via available opportunities, Dennis served faithfully as one of his Alma Mater's Former Local Chapter Presidents as well as a Former National Alumni Leader in the position of President.

His delightful PERSONALITY is what helped him stand out in any crowd especially his famous slogan: "The Only Difference in a GOOD Day and BAD Day is your ATTITUDE." - Dennis S. Brown.

His Personality will always be the talk of the event! It alone kept a smile on many faces!

Dennis truly served with much "HBCU Class, SU Pride, and Joy!"

HHBCUAA extends our prayers and love to Paul Quinn College National Alumni Association during this time of grief. Dallas Police reported Officer Darron Burks (Paul Quinn 07) was "executed" while sitting in his police cruiser on Thursday night.

Burks was a longtime teacher who became a police officer last year.

The challenges our community is currently facing with power outages have made it impractical to proceed with the CASA Summit as planned. We believe it is in the best interest of everyone involved to wait until power has been fully restored before rescheduling the event. We understand the importance of this gathering and the valuable conversations it fosters, and we are committed to finding a new date that allows us to come together and continue the discussion on engaging students with HBCUs.

Please stay tuned for updates on the new date for our CASA Summit. We will be closely monitoring the situation and will provide timely information as soon as it becomes available. We appreciate your understanding and flexibility during this challenging time.

Dear HHBCUAA Family,

We hope this message finds you safe and well in the aftermath of Hurricane Beryl. Our thoughts and prayers are with all those who have been affected by this devastating storm.

Considering the current circumstances and the ongoing power outages in Houston, we have made the difficult decision to postpone our July At Ease Thursday Mixer. The safety and well-being of our community members are of utmost importance to us, and we believe it is best to wait until power is fully restored before coming together to celebrate.

As your President, I want to assure you that we are here to support you during this challenging time. If you need any assistance or have any concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out to our administrative office. We are here to help in any way we can.

We look forward to the day when our city has recovered from the impact of Hurricane Beryl, and we can all gather once again to enjoy each other's company. Until then, please take care of yourselves and stay safe.
