Day Two, for the week of Goddard Games. Today our Lone star and Armadillo class used their fine motor skills to strengthen hand muscles as the kids formed play- doh into rings. Through this sensory experiment, the children also learned the background of the five rings. 🤲🔴🟢🔵🟣🟡

Today, for the week of Goddard Games our Mockingbird class read a book about the sport of gymnastics. The class then used some space to complete some gymnastic moves. After, discussed how gymnastics requires physical strength, hard work, and persistence. 🤸🏻♀️💪🏻📚

Children experience all the same emotions as adults, but they aren’t yet equipped with the tools to handle those feelings. The first step toward understanding their big feelings is helping them learn how to recognize and name their emotions. At The Goddard School - Houston - Barker Cypress we like asking open-ended questions like “What is something that makes you happy or sad?” or “Can you show me what face you make when you are happy, sad or angry?” This gives children the opportunity to share their emotions and show what they know about them. This exercise had Goddard students using emojis to identify each emotion in honor of World Emoji Day. 😊😕😆😥😴 Give it a try with your little one!

Weather Update #3: Good news (with one operating adjustment)! We are able to open regular hours tomorrow, Wednesday, July 10, 2024 🎉 Unfortunately, Roadrunner Foods remains closed, though, so all children will need to bring their own lunches to school. Please make sure to include ice packs to keep lunches temperature controlled. Thank you for everyone's patience and understanding. See everyone tomorrow!
Weather Update #2:
Due to widespread power outages, street flooding and debris, the Goddard School at Barker Cypress will remain closed tomorrow, Tuesday, July 9, 2024. We anticipate reopening regular hours Wednesday, July 10, 2024.
We appreciate everyone's patience and understanding. Hopefully power will be restored and roads cleared soon. Please stay safe!
Weather Update #1: Due to the forecast for heavy rain, possible flooding, and winds associated with Beryl, and for the safety and well-being of our students, staff, and community, the Goddard School at Barker Cypress will be closed tomorrow, Monday, July 8, 2024. At this time, we anticipate being open regular hours on Tuesday, July 9, 2024.
Your safety is our top priority. We will continue to monitor conditions and additional updates will be posted on Facebook and sent by email/text through Tadpoles. Thank you for your understanding as we navigate the next few days. Everyone please stay safe!
