An Age-Adjusted Program for Tefillah Education | This issue explores whether and how spirituality can be taught or cultivated. Today we pay tribute to the 6 million martyrs of the Holocaust who perished al Kiddush Hashem. May their neshamot have an aliyah, and may their memories be for a blessing and their legacies live on forever. We honor the strength of the survivors and their courage and determination to rebuild. We are here today because of their bravery. Today our upper school was fortunate to hear from longtime Houston activist and lecturer Ira Bleiweiss, who spoke about his parents, Sophie and Edward Bleiweiss, survivors of the Holocaust.
It is no secret that day school education tuition is one of the most talked about issues facing our community. Next week, we have the chance to make a difference and show our support for the School Choice Bill. School Choice is a government funded bill that would give families significant funding to put toward private school education. A program being voted on in this legislative round would begin impacting us in the 2025-2026 school year and will continue to have positive ripple effects in the years to follow.

We are thrilled to announce our new partnership with GrowTorah!
๐
GrowTorah develops garden-based experiential and environmental Torah education programs for Jewish day schools.
๐จโ๐พ
Through this partnership, our students and the broader Robert M. Beren Academy community will cultivate a more sustainable future driven by Torah values.
๐ฑ
Over the summer, RMBA will build a new educational garden with GrowTorahโs guidance. Even the design is infused with Torah pedagogy; focusing on the core values of incubating emunah (belief), environmental stewardship, compassion for creatures, and living Tzedakah.
โก๏ธ
We will begin rolling out the GrowTorah curriculum with all of our students in the Fall, bringing them to our outdoor classroom to explore the Torah relationships between humans, the earth, and our fellow creatures. GrowTorah will train our teachers in the garden-based Torah curriculum, and our teachers will teach lessons from the parsha in the garden while tending to this little slice of Hashemโs beautiful world.
๐
We look forward to launching this program and sharing updates with our Robert M. Beren Academy community along the way.

Thank you Chabad Of Houston Outreach for bringing the Shofar Factory to RMBA this morning! Our students loved learning about shofarot and crafting their very own from the raw horn of a ram to take home! Students (with the help of teachers and Rabbi Traxler) sawed, drilled, polished, and shellacked a horn to create a genuine kosher shofar. The students learned how to sounds the shofar and how to follow the traditional sequence of notes blown on Rosh Hashanah!
Thank you to United Orthodox Synagogues (UOS)'s Rabbi Yitzchak Sprung for kicking off our Horim Lomdim (Parents Learn) program with this morning's short but impactful inspirational learning, which was open to parents and the community. No better way to start the morning than recognizing the potential and significance that we each have. Thank you to everyone who came out and to our wonderful PTO for the delicious treats!

Alumni visiting the school certainly deserves its own post! Head of School enjoyed lunch with some of our recent graduates getting to know them prior to them departing off to college, gap-year, and even making aliyah! These visits are always so special to us, please continue to stop by often!
