Paora Garza

Paola began studying dance in the Ballet Academy of Coyoacan
in Mexico City under the direction of the world renowned ballet instructor, Ana Castillo. Later she enrolled in the “Escuela Superior de Musica y Danza de Monterrey” which is a part of the National Institute of Fine Arts of Mexico, where she received her bachelor’s degree in Ballet Dance Performance in 1990. Immediately after graduating she began working at the Ballet of Monterrey Dance Company becoming one of the original professional dancers of this
new company. In 2015, she received an additional bachelor’s degree in Classical Ballet Instruction.
Continue to take on-going training, workshops and dance classes to enhance teaching techniques and learn latest dance class strategies. ABT, Houston Ballet, Escuela Superior de Monterrey.
Throughout her professional career she has had the opportunity to work with well renowned
figures in dance including Fernando Bujones, Ann Marie de Angelo, Fernando Alonso, Susana Benavides, Tulio de la Rosa, Fernando Jones, Cynthia Gregory, Kirk Peterson, Melissa Hayden, Loipa Araujo, Jhonatan Watts and many more.

I’m very proud of the accomplishment of my students, Jonah, Berit, Hadley and Caitlyn at UBC. They all received high gold!!!🎊🎊🎊

Hello, I have an exciting news for KDT’s Ballet Program! We are holding master classes on March 3. We will invite a guest teacher, Mr. Cristian Laverde Koenig from NYC. If you are interested in taking his master classes, please let us know. He will be teaching Beginner Ballet, Intermediate/Advanced Ballet and Body Conditioning this time. Adults are welcome to take his Body Conditioning. He is also a certified Pilates instructor who taught Pilates in NYC. The master classes are open to public!!! Please contact [email protected].

1:00- 2:30 Beginner Ballet
(Equivalent to Graded 1-2)

2:30 - 3:30 Body Conditioning
(Adults are welcome to take this class!!!)

3:30- 5:00 Intermediate/Advanced Ballet
(Equivalent to Graded 3-5)

CRISTIAN LAVERDE-KOENIG was born in Cali, Colombia and received his professional training at The Instituto Colombiano de Ballet (Incolballet) and The Escuela Nacional de Ballet de Cuba under a full scholarship. He has been a soloist for The Ballet Nacional de Cuba, Ballet de Cali, Hartford Ballet and Ballet Internationale, and a principal dancer for the Maximum Dance Company, the Milwaukee Ballet and the Slovak National Ballet. Mr. König’s repertoire includes principal roles in classical and contemporary ballets ranging from Petipa to Balanchine, Tharp to Graham, creating principal roles in works by contemporary choreographers such as Maurice Causey and Karole Armitage. Mr. König has been the recipient of prestigious national and international awards and is a freelance artist. He joined AG!D in 2012.

Michael Banigan is the artistic director and co-founder of BalletForte,
a regional ballet company located in Fort Bend County. As BalletForte’s
director, Mr. Banigan enjoys his passion for choreographing original
ballets as well as staging evening length classics.

Mr. Banigan is also founder of Fort Bend Academy of Dance where he
shares his excitement for developing young dancers.
