I’ve put together a list of the most common mistakes I see in the mortgage loan process, with simple solutions on how to fix them!
1. Inaccurate or incomplete information: Failing to provide accurate and complete information can lead to delays or even rejection of the mortgage application. ➡️Easy fix: be transparent and fill out all of the correct info!
2. Not checking credit reports: Errors in credit reports can negatively impact mortgage eligibility and terms. ➡️Solution: review your credit report before applying! There are free resources online to do so.
3. Skipping pre-approval: Skipping the pre-approval process can lead to disappointment if the desired loan amount is not approved or delays in the homebuying process. ➡️Easy fix: contact me to get pre-approved!
4. Taking on new debt: Applying for new credit or loans before closing on a mortgage can negatively impact credit scores and affect loan approval. ➡️Solution… hold off and do not apply for new debt until after closing!! I cannot stress this enough!
5. Making large purchases: Large purchases before closing, such as buying a car or furniture, can alter debt-to-income ratios and affect mortgage approval. ➡️Fix: When in doubt… call your lender first!!
