VAST Texas

Bridging the gaps that support veteran’s and their families with who's mental health, leads to mass homelessness, incarcerations and sobriety.

Our goal is the successful re-integration of the veteran and their families through Peer Mentorship.

Today was my first opportunity to speak to the justice involved veterans @ 1201 Franklin Criminal Courts and it turned out a success. It was truly amazing being able to inspire change through my own lived experiences. As I travel down this journey of keeping our communities clean with @ XLR8 Pressure Washing Services, LLC and safe through @ VAST Texas and @ Combined Arms Christians Group, I ask that you all keep me in your prayers. God is leading and directing my life into being a blessing to other people while at the same time blessing me. For that, I am truly Grateful !

VAST's work in the community is paying off! From Robert Green:

"After a long week of training for 8 hours a day, and a weekend with my head stuck in a book. I am proud to say that I have become a certified Mental Health Peer Specialist. I want to thank Valerie James with VAST Texas for embracing my change and helping assist me in reaching new heights. The effort and energy Valerie has put into helping my transformation has truly been remarkable. Through my own lived experiences I’m excited about all the lives we are about to CHANGE."

Veteran Advocate Services and Training, with the help from the DeGeorge, and the Houston Lady Lions helped to save a woman's life today.
Veteran Advocates Services and Training got a call that a woman veteran is homeless on the street. I've lived homeless as a veteran and I knew the danger her life was in. I reached out to the Houston Lady Lions, the board voted to pay a night in the hotel for her. Today VAST did what we do best. We met the woman and got her permanently housed. She is pictured here holding my hand.
VAST and the DeGeorge, serve the veteran community, and thank God where there's a need, there's a Lion.

Wow VAST Texas , was able to get another homeless veteran family of the street today! Thank you to our Houston Lady Lions: Adele Green , and Ronetta who stayed up with me till 11 pm to pull together the resources. A special thanks to HLLC VP Pastor Michelle Sterns and her husband Apostle Reggie Sterns of Joseph House Community Outreach Center for providing some life saving food to a starving bunch of heroes.

Serving our community. Veteran Advocates Services & Training met with Inprint to formalize our collaboration for the mental health our creative writing project with the incarcerated veterans of the Harris County Stars & Stripes program. My heart broke when I found out that during COVID the veterans were isolated from humanity for 2 years. Can't wait to have them write their pain out for a healthy release.
