She's young, sweet, and smart! Just imagine the cuddles and love waiting for the right person. Can you open your heart and foster this precious girl? All vetting will be sponsored.

From Scary Accident to River Rafting! Rex is Thriving! ❤️
Remember Rex, the sweet street dog who was hit by a car? Thankfully, no broken bones, but he needed some TLC and rehab. Many rescued pups, like Rex, have underlying health issues, and guess what? He's officially heartworm negative!
His amazing adopters just sent this update: "Rex is now heartworm negative, he did it! He is living his best life! He conquered the Colorado River, is learning doggy park etiquette, and has camping adventures on the horizon. He's the BEST dog!"
While rescue isn't our main focus, we believe everyone should help animals in need, especially because of Houston's animal welfare crisis. Your support helped Rex and many others get the care they need.
We are at the Community Cultivation Network Indoor Market until 4pm today along with other great vendors! Food, drink, music, jewelry and more.
Stop by and support our new resale venture, Barrio Resale Shop that in turn gives back to our work in the community for our pets.

🐾 What an incredible day with Breakthrough Houston! 🐾
The Barrio Dogs Team had the privilege of engaging with over 60 enthusiastic middle school students, sharing insights on proper pet care and the importance of empathy and compassion for our furry family members. It was truly heartwarming to see their excitement and eagerness to learn!
A huge shoutout to Books Between Kids for their generous donation of books that left the students absolutely thrilled. We're also immensely grateful to Council Member Julian Ramirez for donating Houston Zoo tickets, which were awarded to some lucky students through a fun raffle game.
Our hope is that these young minds will carry forward the message that pets are family and grow up to be passionate stewards and advocates for animal welfare.
Together, we're building a brighter future for all our furry friends! 🐶❤️📚

This sweet girl was found wandering the streets alone and without any identification. A caring resident took her in, but couldn't afford the medical care she needed.
That's where Barrio Dogs Fixit Program steps in! Thanks to your support, we were able to get Tinkerbell the care she deserves. She's getting treatment for her skin issues, a much needed nail trim and will soon be spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped.
Thank you for helping us keep pets and families together!

We're hosting a special event for our senior neighbors in affordable housing, many of whom have furry companions! Their pets are family, but rising pet food costs are making it harder to keep them happy and healthy.
Can you help? We're collecting donations of dog and cat food to put smiles on both senior and pet faces!
See our Amazon Wish List for some specific items that would be a big help here: https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/T5REF0NT34J4/ref=nav_wishlist_lists_2.
Every little bit helps! Let's show our amazing seniors and their furry friends some love! ❤️
Tiggy, a playful 9-year-old Staffordshire Terrier mix, is longing to find a loving home. In our last update, we mentioned his recent weight loss – thankfully, blood tests revealed everything's okay! The vet strongly recommends transitioning Tiggy out of boarding and into a home environment, which is completely our goal.
Tiggy loves walks, playtime, and is known as a true sweetheart. We know because of Houston's animal overpopulation our chances are slim, but we can't give up.
Here's how we can help Tiggy:
🐾Getaway: He would benefit so much for a break from boarding with some human compassion for a day outing or a weekend getaway.
🐾Fostering: We could supply all his needs and with foster care he could have more of an opportunity to find a forever home.
🐾Adopt: If you're looking for a loving companion, Tiggy could be your perfect match!
❤Donate: Every contribution helps with food, vet care, and boarding costs. Support Tiggy and other animals in need by donating at https://barriodogs.org/donate/.
Together, let's make Tiggy's dream of a forever home come true! Share this post and spread the word.
It's been a busy summer with our Youth & Paws program! We're still open to schools for the rest of the summer and are excited to schedule our fall calendar.
We believe teaching empathy and compassion creates responsible pet owners for the future. ❤️

This playful pup, Sasha, is waiting for her forever home (or foster!) at Camp Bow Wow Houston Hobby. She's a 3-year-old black lab mix who loves walks, cuddles, fetch and adventures! She thrives on human companionship and would be perfect for an active family.
Sasha gets along with small dogs but might not be a fan of all furry friends, just yet. Regardless, all she wants is a loving human to call her own. Fostering her would be a huge help!
Can you open your heart and home to Sasha? Every donation helps with her care too!

This sweet pup, abandoned at a park, was scared and hungry. We understand - many of us see this daily and already have full fur families. But this young girl was in trouble. Thankfully, with the hurricane brewing, the finders could not leave her to face it alone.
No telling what could have happened. Would she have survived? Absolutely possible, but the trauma these street dogs endure is so wrong.
Rescue isn't our core mission, but these aren't normal times. Houston's animal welfare crisis needs all hands-on deck! Many organizations are helping, but we need the public to help more!
Thank you for considering a donation to her vet care. Every bit helps us give this deserving pup the medical attention she needs. You can also give at: https://barriodogs.org/donate/
She is safe now, vet-checked (no microchip!), and vaccinated. She's about 8 months old and will be spayed and microchipped soon. Initially she was timid, but warming up fast, submissive to other dogs and learning how to walk on a leash. But most importantly, she needs a forever home.
Can you give this young girl the happy ending she deserves? Share this post to help us find her perfect match!
The resource distribution event held today was met with many happy faces, especially among pets in need. Barrio Dogs was grateful for the opportunity to support the Houston Humane Society in distributing pet food and pet essentials to many residents in the community.
A big thanks goes out to the elected officials who came together to put on this necessary event. If you missed it, you can reach out to your elected officials to learn about other events and support needed. The Houston Humane Society also has a pet pantry and may be able to help!

Because of the ongoing power outage and other challenges related to Hurricane Beryl, we need to reschedule our Coffee and Conversation with Council Member Sallie Alcorn set for this Saturday. The new date is Saturday, August 24th, same time and location.
We know this will be a productive and very informative conversation with CM Alcorn and hope you will join us on the new date.
And to those of you out there still struggling with the power outage, hang in there, it will get better!
This brave little kitten was found in bushes, covered in maggots. Thankfully, a kind person rushed him to the vet where he was provided wound care and necessary medication (thanks to her quick action, we were able to help!). Now, he's already eating and drinking - a true fighter!
Sadly, there are many stories like this but are preventable. That's why East End Kitties and Barrio Dogs is launching a campaign to spay/neuter hundreds of feral cats and stop unwanted litters from suffering on the streets.
PLEASE Join Us!

We're overjoyed to announce that Lily has found her forever home! This is fantastic news, and we're so grateful to Lily's wonderful new family.
Lily, along with her 4 pack mates, Lady, Layla, Tiggy, and Sasha, needed loving homes after their mom could no longer care for them due to early-onset dementia. It's been a significant financial responsibility, but thanks to your incredible support, we never gave up hope.
Lily, Lady and Layla have been adopted, leaving Tiggy and Sasha still waiting at Camp Bow Wow Houston Hobby. We're actively searching for their perfect matches.
A huge thank you to everyone who has donated towards their boarding costs, veterinary care, and food. Your generosity has made a world of difference!
We're thrilled for Lily, Lady and Layla, and know Tiggy and Sasha will find their special homes. Sincere gratitude for your continued support, you can give at https://barriodogs.org/donate/.
In our last update, Tiggy enjoyed a fantastic day trip to the beach! Sadly, he's been losing weight recently, but blood work tests came back normal. The vet highly recommends transitioning him out of boarding and into a home environment, which is exactly what we want for him!
Tiggy is a spunky 9-year-old Staffordshire Terrier mix waiting at Camp Bow Wow Houston Hobby. We know it's a challenging time for Houston's animals, but we all need to do our part. This energetic pup loves walks, playtime, and is a true sweetheart.
Your support is crucial. We need help with food, vet care, and boarding. You can donate at https://barriodogs.org/donate/. But what we truly need is a foster or adopter.
Together, let's find Tiggy a miracle! Email [email protected] to foster, adopt, or donate.
