Just a Cameroonian girl born and raised in Miami, FL who had a dream of becoming a Doctor and never lost sight of that. I’ve been blessed to accomplish everything I said I would with the support of so many wonderful people in my life👩🏾🎓💐
T minus 6 days.
A ma famille, ça c’est pour vous 🖤
𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐬 𝐟𝐮𝐥𝐟𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐝.
As I write this the morning of my graduation, it just hit me that this is real. I wish I could go back in time to let the 18-year-old version of myself know that that “C” we got in organic chemistry isn’t even going to matter in a few years.
Look at what the Lord has done! There are SO many emotions that describe the past 4 years. Dental school contained some of my highest highs and gave me some of my lowest lows. We’ve learned a lot, grown a lot, pushed forward, and persevered through it all, even when seeds of doubt tried their best to sway us on our path. When it’s all said and done, God brought me through the most challenging journey of my life thus far. And while the resiliency and strength I had to gain to see this day is insurmountable, I could not be more grateful for every hour, minute, and second spent pursuing this degree.
As the first doctor in my family, allow me to formally reintroduce myself:
𝐃𝐫. 𝐂𝐚𝐲𝐥𝐞𝐧 𝐘. 𝐃𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐬, 𝐃𝐃𝐒 (𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐦𝐞 “𝐃𝐫. 𝐂𝐚𝐲”)

2 days until graduation and it’s just starting to hit me that all of my hard work has officially paid off. 3 application cycles, waitlist, denials, and all it took was 1 yes for me to show that I was destined for this.
Medical school was filled with highs and lows but I wouldn’t trade my journey for anything. Covid, hurricanes, snow storms, etc. and we made it look easy. I learned how to be a compassionate and caring physician from my own community and will continue training in pediatrics, psychiatry, and child psychiatry at the #1 pediatric hospital in the nation.
I turned my trials into a testimony and it wouldn’t have been possible without God, my family, friends, RNOV, mentors, NGP, and the SNMA. Thank yall. I love yall. I’m forever indebted 🫶🏽

Tomorrow, my childhood dream will be fulfilled. In a world where less than 3% of U.S. physicians are Black, I am deeply thankful to God for helping me conquer every obstacle, both external and internal, on this incredible journey. I also extend gratitude to my family and loved ones who have uplifted me, especially during my toughest seasons. Tomorrow, I’ll stand atop a mountain I’ve been climbing for over two decades, equipped with the tools to conquer the next mountain ahead. By God’s grace, the next climb will be even more exhilarating!

God’s faithfulness has followed me to every stage of life, and I feel so unworthy! I am so grateful and humbled to enter this next chapter, embrace my calling, and thankful to everyone who loved and prayed for me. It’s only the beginning!! Genesis 12: 1-2
