After moving to the USA, Elaine tried finding dumplings that reminded her of the ones she had back in China, unfortunately she could not find them. She began making dumplings of all varieties and inviting her friends over to share in her cooking.

Elaine had the chance to share her favorite dishes at Dumpling Haus’s first pop-up at a local coffee shop in 2016. Since that first pop-up, Dumpling Haus has partnered with local watering holes, farmer markets, and city-wide events to share the joy of eating handmade dumplings made with the finest ingredients!

Founder Rafael Nasr started Craft Pita because he believes in sharing culture through food.

Rafael was born and raised in Houston as a first generation Lebanese American. His childhood summers were spent visiting his grandmother’s home and olive oil grove in the mountains of Lebanon. There he learned the key components of Mediterranean food: freshly pressed olive oil, fruits and veggies from the garden, freshly baked bread from the local baker, and humanely-raised meat.

Sustainable Supporters are a community of generous and dedicated monthly donors who have committed to supporting us all year long.

By giving monthly to Urban Harvest, you let us plan better for the future and spend less time on fundraising and more time on the programs that you love. That’s more time for:
✨ Students to learn life skills and healthy eating habits through a deeper understanding of where their food comes from
✨ Bringing together more residents in Houston food deserts and growing food in former empty lots, providing a sense of community and fresh food for those most in need
✨ Helping area farmers to sustain their farms and derive a reliable income through our Farmers Markets.

A one-time gift of $20 will purchase one flat of locally-grown plant starts, while a sustainable gift of $20 per month will supply plant starts for the whole year, creating the potential for 498 pounds of food or 415 healthy, seasonal meals.

Visit https://www.urbanharvest.org/what-is-a-sustainable-supporter/ to get started. We appreciate your generosity. to get started. We appreciate your generosity!
