STAFF SPOTLIGHT

Zoia Golofeeva was born in the Republic of Moldova. She received her Master’s Degree in Piano Accompaniment and Ensemble, and Her Bachelor’s Degree in Opera Studies (Voice) from the State University of Arts, in Chisinau, Moldova. From 1996 to 2006, she served as the main Opera Staff Accompanist, Opera Chorus Artist, and as a Soloist with Moldova’s National Opera Theatre.
She currently teaches piano and voice at Suzuki Academy of Houston, International Music Academy, and the Christian Academy

STAFF SPOTLIGHT

Born in Kuala Lumpur, Ee Lyn began her musical studies at the age of five. She earned her Bachelor of Music (HONS) in Piano Performance from UCSI University in Kuala Lumpur and her Masters of Music in Piano Pedagogy from Texas State University-San Marcos. Her principal teachers include Jason Kwak, Morag Yong, and Sharene Tan. She also coached with Tean Hwa P’ng, Pei Sien Lim, Geneviene Wong, Heidi Williams, Young-Hyun Cho, Wei-Han Su, Hye-Jung Hong, and Rita Berger.

Ee Lyn has received numerous scholarships throughout her studies, which include the Gina Whitlock-Bowles Scholarship, Clara Freshour Nelson Music Scholarship, Fine Arts Scholarship, and Friends of Fine Arts Scholarship. Ee Lyn is a member of Pi Kappa Lambda National Music Honor Society, Alpha Chi National College Honor Society, and the Golden Key International Honor Society.

As an educator, Ee Lyn had been teaching piano since 2005 starting in Malaysia then in Austin and now in Houston. Her students in Austin were active participants at Austin District Music Teachers Association (ADMTA) festivals. Many of her students scored Distinctions and Merits in the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) exams. She has also taught several diploma students for the Australian Guild of Music and Speech (AGMS). Ee Lyn was a Graduate Teaching Assistant at Texas State University, teaching class piano from August 2010 to December 2011. In July 2011, Ee Lyn presented her research poster at the National Conference of Keyboard Pedagogy in Lombard, Illinois.

Another shining moment for our very own, Ellen! She was chosen as a FIRST PRIZE WINNER at the 2024 International Music Competition "Vienna" Grand Prize Virtuoso. She has been invited to perform at the Gläserner Saal, Musikverein in April. Congratulations Ellen. You are amazing and we are so proud of you!

STAFF SPOTLIGHT

Born in in 1973 in Port Arthur, Texas, Brian started his study with Hugh Thompson of Beaumont, Texas, when he was 15. He was awarded the John Paul Endowed Piano Scholarship at Sam Houston State University, where he studied with Dr. John Paul from 1993 to 1998. He pursued graduate studies at University of North Texas where he studied with Berthe Odnoposoff. In 2005, he was selected to study at The Bösendorpher Piano Academy in Vienna, Austria. He completed his Master's in Piano Performance at Lamar University in 2006 with Dr. Arthur Stewart.

Brian has actively pursued postgraduate studies with concert artists Dr. Richard Dowling, Margerie Rasche, and Dr. Debra Greschner in both piano, organ and voice. He has been active in Music Teachers National Association, and his students have received top rankings in festivals and competitions. He has been active as a collaborative artist, church musician, and soloist, performing in the United States as well as Europe for over 20 years.

We are thrilled to have Brian work with the students at IMA!

Congratulations to Karis, Celeste, Sophia, Hannah, Vivian, Meske, Julia and Lara for scoring a 5+. These students will also be able to participate in the TMTA Convention All Star Festival. STAFF SPOTLIGHT

Maria Gorodetskaya is a pianist and accompanist who graduated from the University of Florida with a Master’s Degree in piano performance in 2008. She also earned a Master’s of Music in piano performance in 2004 from Gnesin Russian Academy in Moscow, where she studied with legendary pianist and professor Maria Gambarian, who had the strongest impact on Maria’s music-making.

Maria has received numerous honors in international piano competitions, including international piano festivals in Prague and Moscow, International Piano Competition by Rubinstein in Paris France, International Piano Competition in Hassel Germany, and University of Florida Concerto Competition in the United States, where she performed Concerto No. 1 by Rachmaninoff in April 2008.

Active as a performer, Ms. Gorodetskaya has played throughout Russia, Ukraine, Czech Republic, Germany, France, and the United States. She has performed in such venues as the Small and Rachmaninoff Halls of Moscow, the Tchaikovsky Conservatory, the Big and Small Gnesin Russian Academy, Conservatory Hall in Prague, and the University of Florida Auditorium.

Maria performs music by different composers in a variety of styles, but she feels a special attachment to the music of Rachmaninoff. In addition to Maria’s performing career she has professionally accompanied solo instrumentalists and ensembles throughout Russia and the United States.

Besides performing and accompanying, Maria taught with great success at the International Music Academy from 2011 through 2019. During those years her passion for teaching helped her students to perform successfully at numerous recitals, competitions, and festivals. In October 2018, she was part of the IMA’s trip to New York where both faculty and students gave two outstanding debut recitals in Carnegie Hall.

We are thrilled to have Maria on staff at IMA.

STAFF SPOTLIGHT

Diana Rezzy has a Masters degree in Violin Teaching and Orchestra from Leontovich School of Music in Kiev, Ukraine. She began playing in the symphony in Kiev at the age of 17 and began her teaching her career then too. Dianna started teaching in Houston in 1991 and has taught for the International Music Academy for 10 years.

STAFF SPOTLIGHT

Jennifer Lee-Gutiérrez completed her Master's degree in Piano Performance at the University of Houston under Dr. Tali Morgulis, where she also served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant and lecturer in undergraduate Music Theory.

Jennifer began her piano studies at the age of nine under Mary Ann Bishop and subsequently studied with Frances Schwemmer. She was granted the Music University Scholarship and the President's Cabinet Scholarship to the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, where she was graduated Summa cm Laude from the University Honors Program with a Bachelors of Music in Piano Performance.

Jennifer has received numerous awards for her piano performances and academic achievements. These include first place winner of both the State and Regional National Federation of Music Clubs Competition (NFMC); as a result of this accomplishment, she competed at the National NFMC Competition in Spring of 2009. She also received the Annie Lou Ellis Award (2nd place) in the Alabama Federation of Music Clubs piano auditions (2007), 2nd place in the Birmingham Music Club piano auditions (2007), and performed at the winners' reception at the Mountain Brook Club in Birmingham. Jennifer also performed in master classes for highly renowned musicians such as Nelita True and Robert Hatten.

At the University of Alabama, Jennifer received the 2009-2010 Presser Foundation Scholarship, the University of Alabama Women's Club Scholarship (2008), and for her musical and academic achievements was named Outstanding Student of the Year from the University of Alabama School of Music (2010).

Jennifer has had a passion for teaching since a young age. She was invited to join the faculty of the Community Music School in Tuscaloosa as a private piano instructor when only a sophomore due to her considerable teaching experience.

Recent performances include a recital of traditional Greek music in collaboration with violinist Barbara Poularikas and oboist Dr. Anne Knipschild in Desylla, Greece, as well as solo piano performances in Völs am Schlern and Castelrotto in northern Italy as a part of her studies at the 2012 Schlern International Music Festival. Currently, Jennifer resides in Houston, Texas. In addition to her teaching work at the International Music Academy, she performs regularly as a professional staff accompanist at the University of Houston Moores School of Music. She has also served on the faculty at the American Festival for the Arts summer program for middle- and high-school musicians, where she has taught music theory and group piano classes, as well as accompanying vocal masterclasses and choirs.

We are so lucky to have Jennifer on staff at IMA.
