Mission and Values
MECA is a community-based non-profit organization committed to the healthy development of under-served youth and adults through arts and cultural programming, academic excellence, support services, and community building. MECA provides arts education, support services, and multicultural artistic performances and events to students and their families, that help build discipline, self-esteem, and cultural pride.
Join MECA’s Executive Director, Armando Silva, tomorrow at 6:30 and learn more about this one-time, non-project based award. This opportunity is meant for artists who identify as BIPOC and are serving the Houston community through their artistic practice.

Due to the path of tropical storm, Beryl, for the safety of our community, MECA campuses will be closed Monday and Tuesday, July 8-9.
Tomorrow night!
Due to power outage, the TBH facility is closed until further notice. Recitals will be rescheduled.
Today we mourn one of our beloved instructors. Mr. Ponce shared his light and talent with our community as an instructor in the Ballet Folklorico program for numerous years. We wish his family light and love as they navigate through this devastating loss.
Join us as we host Wednesday, June 21 at 7pm for A RUN FOR MORE to watch Frankie Gonzales-Wolf’s historic run for office in Bexar County. Campaigning to become the first openly trans elected official in Texas, Frankie must appeal to one of the most diverse districts in the country while navigating her representational image in office. Featuring a key cameo by legendary Houston trans activist Monica Roberts, A RUN FOR MORE celebrates trans sisterhood and the tireless efforts of community builders.
The film will be followed with a discussion by local activists Lou Weaver and Joelle Espeut!
