Please join us for tonight’s musical performance of Tong Wang and David Dietz.

Canadian pianist Tong Wang performs in a variety of styles, settings, and actively leads new creative initiatives in the arts community. As a soloist, Tong has performed with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra and Red Deer Symphony Orchestra. She is the recipient of awards including the International Chopin Golden Ring Competition, the Canadian Music Competition, the Alberta Arts Graduate Scholarship, the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal of Performing Arts, and the Canada Graduate Scholarship.
Cellist David Dietz has performed across the US and Europe and is experienced in a variety of settings as both a performer and a teacher. He currently resides in Houston, Texas. David received his Bachelor’s Degree and Performer Diploma at Indiana University and recently completed his master’s degree at Rice University in 2022

In this new exhibition, John Slaby presents an eclectic collection of paintings created over the last three years with works addressing the effects of the ubiquitous smartphone on the culture, as well as re-imagining cultural myths in contemporary environs. This show follows two successful shows: The Male Gaze of 2018 and Solipsism in 2021, both of which sold out. As before, half the sales will be donated to charity.

These two oil paintings (in order of shown in the post) “The End of the Beginning” and “The Beginning” are painted by this year juried show winner Martin Wnuk
One has to see it in person to fully appreciate it.
In artist’s own words, “All of these works were done in response to my daughter’s cancer diagnosis. They were all painted over previous images. The large one (89”x95”), “The Beginning”, refers to the dark initial stages of diagnosis and treatment and represents emergency caregiving. The second largest painting (56”x69”), “The End of the Beginning” represents a more hopeful period.
