Today marks the end of the Applied Behavior Analysis Academy for Educators summer program. Over the course of June and July, graduate students in the behavior analysis program provided a 5-day intensive training for educators in the greater Houston area.

We welcomed four cohorts of teachers and paraprofessionals from Fort Bend, Yes Prep, Aldine, Goose Creek, Pasadena, Friendswood, Conroe, Danbury, and Dickinson ISDs.

During our program, educators learned how to evaluate student preferences to use effective reinforcement in the classroom, strategies for behavior management, and how to coach and collaborate with team members.

We are grateful for donations from the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo to support our program each summer. We also would like to thank our program director, Dr. Dorothea Lerman, BCBA-D, program manager, Carson Whitford, MA, lead instructors Mojola Bamise and Morgan McCarville, and countless volunteers for assisting with our trainings.

Pictured are the educators from four weeks of training. It was a delight working together and learning more about the students our center serves. We hope to see more of you next summer!

FREE language services to children and adolescents with autism. Please share! We really need participants. We are teaching children to learn to label the sights and sounds of their environment. Labelling is an important step toward conversations and communications. It is also important for safety, for example, learning how to recognize the sound of an alarm or an animal growl.

Please reach out and share this flier. Thanks!
Students can be older than 7 years.

B. F. SKINNER FOUNDATION – Better Behavioral Science for a More Humane World 07/06/2024

Please consider donating to the BF Skinner Foundation. Thank you! Please share.

Greetings from the B.F. Skinner Foundation,

The B.F. Skinner Foundation would like to extend our heartfelt thanks for your continued support. We thank you for your recent and/or past contributions. As a small non-profit organization, we thrive on your generosity and engagement, and we would not exist without your invaluable contributions!

Our mission, "Better Behavioral Science for a More Humane World," drives us to disseminate knowledge that furthers this goal. Through our vibrant community, legacy website, quarterly magazine Operants, extensive archives, and publishing activities, we strive to promote behavioral science. Your support is the backbone of the infrastructure that enables these activities. In these trying times, your contributions are particularly appreciated.

As we reflect on our journey, we're excited to share some highlights from this year and introduce our Mid-Year Drive with the theme of "Reflections."

Recent Highlights:

Publications: We are proud of our recent publications. Recent Issues in the Analysis of Behavior, a collection of articles and talks on Skinner’s concerns in the late 1980s.We also published Reflections on Behaviorism and Society, a collection of miscellaneous articles and talks by B.F. Skinner from the 1970s.
Operants Magazine: Our quarterly magazine, Operants, continues to be a complimentary, ad-free resource for all subscribers. Written in an engaging and accessible manner, it is available electronically through our website.
Archival Project: We launched an ambitious archival project, working with professional archivists to categorize Skinner’s correspondences, manuscripts, gadgets, and multimedia. Our goal is to centralize these materials in a Digital Assets Management system for universal access. ● We need to raise another $50,000 to complete this project.
Skinner Session: Our Skinner session in May hosted speakers such as Drs. Julie Vargas, Carl Sundberg, Thom Ratkos, David Palmer, Joe Layng, and David Roth, discussing and reflecting on Skinner’s views on teaching, behavioralism, and society.

Mid-Year Drive - "Reflections":

As we reflect on our progress, we invite you to join us in our Mid-Year Drive. This year, we're offering several special opportunities to show our gratitude and enhance your experience with the Foundation:

Exclusive Auction: We are auctioning a rare, signed copy of Walden II by B.F. Skinner. This is a unique opportunity to own a piece of history.
Foundation Merchandise: Check out our store for new items, including a beautiful print of a portrait of B.F. Skinner. Our merchandise makes perfect gifts and supports the Foundation.
Collectible Pins: For donations over $50, we are giving away exclusive collectible Skinner pins as a token of our appreciation.

The Foundation operates on a lean budget, relying heavily on contributions. To sustain our ongoing projects and explore new initiatives, we need your support. Please consider donating to the B.F. Skinner Foundation by visiting bfskinner.org and clicking on the donate button. You can also mail in your contribution or support us by purchasing from our store.

Your generosity enables us to continue promoting better behavioral science for a more humane world. Thank you for your ongoing support and for being a part of the B.F. Skinner Foundation community.

With sincere gratitude,

Sarah Lechago

During the last two weeks of July we hosted two additional cohorts of educators to round out our summer training, the Applied Behavior Analysis Academy. This brings our total number of educators that completed the training to 40!

The teachers and paraprofessionals joined us from Alvin, Conroe, Clear Creek, Humble, Pasadena, Spring, Santa Fe, La Porte, Houston, and Friendswood ISDs.

The educators joined us for 5 days to learn a variety of evidence-based strategies to incorporate in their teaching, including behavior management and providing effective coaching and collaboration to classroom team members.

We are grateful to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo for providing generous grants to support this program! We also thank our director and creator of the program, Dr. Dorothea Lerman, BCBA-D and our training manager, Danika Bosch-Greer, BCBA for all of their inspiration, support, planning, and supervision that went into the training! Additional thanks to the many graduate students that assisted!

Pictured are educators from weeks 3 and 4 of the training. It was wonderful, and so much fun, working with each educator that joined us!
