It's a tough world out there. This momma little Green Heron played an egg and would sit on it and rotate it, taking good care of it. Daddy stood by to help and bring more sticks to the nest. A Anhinga found the nest and chased momma off it. Soon the Purple Gallinules came in for the action as well. Both were working toward eating the egg. Momma defended the best she could and daddy was involved as well. Soon reinforcements came in and 4 more little Green Herons arrived to help. Unfortunately a human decided to try to "help" and threw some water on the birds. The only birds it scared off was the little Green Herons, leaving the egg in the open and the nest undefended. The Purple Gallinule took advantage of the opportunity and ate the egg. Humans need to learn that we can not always "stop in and help" because we do not always know best. Maybe the Little Green Herons could have handled the threat and saved their nest and baby. We will not ever know the answer to that. Very sad.
Birds< Birds, and more Birds! Nesting season in south Florida does not disappoint.
A Different Point Of View! Here are some fun, artsy photos I have made showing a different point of view. The captions explain each of these.
Birds, Birds, and More Birds! The birds are active as this is mating season, so they are all wearing their finest feathers.
One of my favorite birds found in the Florida wetlands is the Purple Gallinule. They are found year around residents and I think they are one of the prettiest marsh birds.

The History of Diving Museum in Islamorada opens its "Edge of the Sea" Art show next week and will run through April. There will be many beautiful pieces of art for sale.

Our Annual Members Show at the Keys History & Discovery Center, runs from January 12 - March 16. Lots of beautiful Artwork from my fellow artists and friends from the Art Guild of the Purple Isles. I have 2 pieces, "Foggy Morning" which is a photograph printed as a digital fresco (gelatin transfer) and the other is "Colored Houses" which is my photograph and digitally I made it a water color print and printed it on vellum.
LensBaby Velvet 85 Lens. It is an "art" lens with selective focus. This barn was on the way to Hillman Michigan.
Digital water colors with my hummingbird photos.
More digital watercolor techniques working with my own photos.
Still working with my photos and creating a watercolor technique. This is a different style than the last ones. I think I am liking them.
More experimenting with my photos and digitally watercoloring them. These are not as light and airy as the others but I kind of like how these two turned out.
I started a new series titled Tales From the Sea. I have some photo lifts complete. Will be doing some encaustics too. It is still evolving so we will see where it goes.
It's that time of year again! Fine Art America is having their annual sale and what better gift to give than the gift of art. The best news is that my art is not sitting off shore stuck in a container, on a ship.
