Today Charger Fit & the Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion teamed up to commemorate Juneteenth by honoring the holiday's history with a Freedom Walk. It was a success!

The Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion and Charger Fit are teaming up to commemorate Juneteenth by honoring the holiday's history and helping us to be healthy. Join us next week, on June 18 at 11:00 AM, at the Slab (outside of the CTC/Charger Cafe) for a Juneteenth Freedom Walk! There will be swag and food available after the event. Check your email for registration information!


All eligible employees who attend this event will receive 30 points toward their wellness incentive!! Be sure to sign the sign-in sheet once you arrive at the event to ensure you are awarded points accordingly. We look forward to seeing you there!

We are celebrating National Diabetes Awareness Month early with this month's Wellness Wednesday presentation. The presentation will be held on June 12th, 2024, from 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM. During this session, we will hear from both Matt Scott with Livongo and Mackenzie B**g with Virta Health on each respective diabetes program.

Since both programs are available to employees enrolled in a UAH health plan, this presentation will help employees navigate each program and determine for themselves which program is best suited for their needs.

• Livongo—Diabetes Management Program:
Livongo helps you achieve better results by teaching you how
to use your diabetes medication more effectively.

• Virta—Diabetes and Prediabetes Reversal Program:
Virta helps you achieve results by understanding your personal
carbohydrate tolerance and changing your diet so you burn
fat for energy.

After 24 years of dedicated service to the University of Alabama in Huntsville, Connie Brand is setting her sights on a well-deserved retirement. We are sad to see Connie go, but extremely happy and excited for her as she embarks upon this new chapter of her life. Connie has been an integral part of the Human Resources department during her career at UAH. She will be remembered for her valuable contributions, hard work, commitment and dedication to employees. Connie will be greatly missed by many!

In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, May’s Wellness Wednesday presentation will be led by mental health professionals with ComPsych, our EAP provider. This month's presentation will be held on May 15th, 2024, from 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM.

Working on our mental health need not be reserved just for those who are in crisis or who are faced with an official diagnosis— mental health matters for everyone. This interactive session will help you:

• Understand the concepts of languishing and flourishing,
• Reflect on your current mental wellness status,
• Describe three concrete approaches to move from languishing
to flourishing, and
• Identify an action plan to implement within the next 30 days
to move toward flourishing.

Employee Satisfaction Survey 2024: Share Your Feedback!

Don’t miss your opportunity to let your voice be heard! Last year, UAH participated in a survey that is one component of the larger “Best Places to Work” program and contest coordinated through the Huntsville/Madison County Chamber. Although we believe UAH is a great place to work, our participation is not about the competition, but rather, the invaluable opportunity to receive employee feedback and to see how UAH compares to other organizations in our region.

All regular full- and part-time faculty and staff at UAH are invited to complete the 10-minute survey. Because it is a confidential survey, the survey is managed by an external vendor, Quantum Workplace, who will distribute the survey via the email: [email protected].

The survey will open on Wednesday, February 28th, and close on Friday, March 8th.
