Happiest Holidays from all of us at Constitution Hall Park!
๐Ÿฑ๐Ÿถ Did you know: During the turn of the century, several newspapers reported numerous pets joyfully receiving gifts of their own! They got their own little Christmas tree adorned with meats and other cat/dog delicacies. These trees were loved by pets all over the country. Newspapers also reported dogs enjoying festive holiday parties with other dog friends and cats whose joyous meows joined in with the childrenโ€™s gleeful laughs! Would you do the same to your fur babies?

๐Ÿ“… In the month of August, 204 years ago, Alabamaโ€™s first constitution was signed, ending the Constitutional Convention.
๐Ÿ“œ On August 2nd, 1819, forty-four delegates from across the Alabama Territory met in a vacant cabinet shop in downtown Huntsville to sign the document. Later that year, on December 14th, President James Monroe admitted Alabama as the 22nd state to the Union. A replica of the cabinet shop currently stands as part of Alabama Constitution Hall Park.

Juneteenth is the commemoration of the emancipation of the enslaved in Galveston, TX on this date in 1865, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. Today, we honor the courage, hope, progress, and resiliency of the Black community in the struggle for justice and the creation of a more equitable America.

โ€œIt's an opportunity to both look back but to look ahead to make sure that that notion of freedom and the fragility of it is always protected and celebrated.โ€ โ€”Lonnie Bunch
