How much runway does a B-52 take off?

According to a circular slide rule that was used by B-52 pilots to calculate the takeoff and landing distances, a fully loaded B-52G (488,000 lbs) at sea level, 60 degrees F, and using full thrust (1.71 EPR) would need about 8,000 feet of runway to take off. However, if the same aircraft was at 5,000 feet of altitude, 90 degrees F, and using partial thrust (1.67 EPR), it would need about 13,000 feet of runway to take off.

Of course, these are only approximate values, and the actual runway length may vary depending on the specific conditions and the pilot’s technique. In some cases, the runway may not be long enough for a safe takeoff, and the aircraft may have to offload some fuel or weapons, or refuel in the air after takeoff. Also, the aircraft uses a technique called “assisted takeoff”, which involves using rockets or jet engines attached to the wings or fuselage to boost the acceleration and lift of the aircraft.

The B-52 is a remarkable aircraft that can adapt to different situations and environments, and perform a variety of missions.

Today we did a Memory Wire Bracelet Class at Kimberli’s Place in Indian Trail. There was 4 people attending the class and the Bracelets came out beautiful. Check out the photos below. This was such a fun class to teach and everyone had a great time. Next month on August 20th I will be teaching a Diamond Painting Class.
