Every Dog Counts Rescue

We're an all-volunteer, all-breed dog rescue specializing in rehabilitating sick and injured dogs. And injured and sick dogs get whatever they need.

Every Dog Counts Rescue is a non-profit (501c3), all-volunteer dog rescue, founded to save the lives of homeless dogs in the Midwest. Our focus is on dogs with special medical needs - the injured, sick, orphaned, or elderly - who often will not make it out of shelters without rescue assistance. If they are still able to enjoy life, we want to give them that chance. We believe that foster dogs are

So many reasons to love senior dogs! 😍

More. Good. News. 🎉

Lucy, our sweet pup who had been run over with a lawn mower 🤕, is in her foster to adopt home with her new sister Candy, who is also an EDCR alum!

She thinks her new sister is THE COOLEST and is adjusting to the good life while she heals.

We LOVE hearing from former EDCR adopters, and even more when they want to adopt again! ♥️

06/18/2024

A sweet little update for our guy Elfie, who has been with us since December! 🤯. Crazy right?!

Well, he’s officially in his foster to adopt home with his new mama! And he’s officially not Elfie—now Remy! 🐭

His new mama says he is adjusting great, and his favorite time of the day is in the evening, while they both sit in the window and ‘people watch’ together.

Photos from Every Dog Counts Rescue's post 06/13/2024

Lucy says thanks for all your support frands!

She had the rest of that little leg nub removed today and is on her way home with her foster family. 🏡

Luce will be on crate rest for a couple of weeks to get that leg all healed up, but we’re not sure she even realizes she’s missing it yet!

06/11/2024

This sweet girl was brought into the emergency vet after being run over by a lawn mower…and completely losing that back leg. 🤕

They currently have her stabilized at the Emergency vet, but she will need the rest of the leg removed hopefully tomorrow. 🤞 Despite the pain she is in, she’s still a sweet girl.

If you have the means and would like to donate towards her care, you should be able to through this post. 💲We know she has the best supporters behind her, but she’s not out of the woods just yet.

We realized we never shared an update after Molly recovered from surgery (eye removal & spay/pyometra). Isn’t she just darling?! 😍

05/14/2024

Lola is a darling little snugglebug who is ready to find her forever family! We estimate she is about 12 years old and looks like a wire-haired Dachshund; she's about 14 lb. She gets along well with everyone - dogs, cats, and people - though she will chase after chickens and bunnies! She is mostly deaf but she gets around well and learns quickly (learned to use the bell to go out at her foster home). When she came to us she had a mass that had to be removed from her hip, but it was successfully & completely removed. She had a complete dental and wellness care. Now she is being treated for heartworm infection, but we would love to find her forever family so she can finish out her treatment while she gets settled in to her happily-ever-after.
Apply to adopt Lola here: http://www.edcr.org/adopt.html

THANK YOU to all who have donated for sweet Molly! We are grateful she came to our attention because of her eye, because she also had a pyometra! 😳 It’s amazing her huge infected uterus (0.5 lb in her 7 lb body) didn’t kill her. She now has the bad eye out along with the infected uterus & some rotten teeth. We are *ecstatic* to tell you she has taken all this in stride. She is eating well, enjoying snuggles, and just all around a delightful little patient. We are so grateful to be part of her journey & grateful you made saving her possible. 🙏🏻🙌🏻🫶🏻❤️

04/24/2024

Oh sweet love… tiny Molly was surrendered with a *very* ouchie eye. 😞 She has been hospitalized overnight for pain control & we expect that eye will likely need to be removed tomorrow. Sending you all of our healing love tonight, sweet girl. We are so sorry for all the painful nights you spent before you got to us. 💔

OUCH! Tiny Dante is still a puppy (less than 8 lb.) and he came to us with both of his front legs broken! These types of fractures are unlikely to heal on their own, so they require surgical repair.
Contributions to put this sweet baby back together are very appreciated!

Handsome Wilbur is ready to find his forever family! As some of you may remember, he came to us with significant injuries from being hit by a car, which unfortunately resulted in him having to have a leg amputated. He is fully healed and doing just fine as a tripawd!
He gets along with other dogs, though he prefers chill friends to wild pups. He enjoys beagle-things like walks, but his *favorite* activity is snuggling up on the couch with his people and a fuzzy blanket!

Sounds like the best “upgrade” ever!

Thank you SO MUCH to Three Dog Bakery Indianapolis for hosting and to everyone who came out to the Easter Begg Hunt yesterday! It was a beautiful day & we so appreciate your support!

We are pleased to offer an alternative to Central Indiana pet owners by providing a wide range of surgical services at a lower cost. It is our goal to reduce the number of pets euthanized or surrendered to shelters for "fixable" issues, by improving access to surgical care. If your pet is in need of surgery and cost is an issue, please talk to your Veterinarian about contacting us.

Eva had her spay and a dental today. 🪥 We wanted to give her pelvis a little more time to heal before putting her under again.

Her foster mama asked them to take a look at a spot under her chin that Eva has had since she came into rescue—she thought it was just an old lady bump, but wanted to be safe. Well, it turned out to be a mast cell tumor. Cancerous. 😔 This poor girl cannot catch a break.

Fortunately the surgeon thinks he got *ALL* of the tumor with clean margins, which is the absolute best news we could’ve hoped for—hopefully no recurrence later. 🤞 Unfortunately, this means a pretty sizable wound that had to be sutured closed on top of her spay and dental.

Don’t worry about her after care though, her foster sister Nik has volunteered for nurse duty, much to Eva’s chagrin. 😂 We do have a post just below 👇🏼 if you’d like to donate to her veterinary care though.

Eva’s tiny foster human has taken over her strict rehab regimen with his own twist involving massage with popsicle molds. 💆🏻

While Eva has happily obliged this future veterinarian , we would love to get her in for some additional “official” treatment. Unfortunately, her bills have continued to rack up, so we need some additional fundraising 💰 to get her there!

If you remember—Eva was found stuffed into an ottoman (like the kind you put blankets in at the end of your bed 🛏️) and left out in the alley to be picked up with the trash. She had a shattered pelvis and couldn’t walk at all.

After some much needed rest, she is starting to get around better but could still use some improvement! If you have the means and would like to donate to Eva’s continued care, please donate through the link on this post!

Guess who no longer has to be on oxygen and got himself a little trimmy trim? ✂️ Todd!!! Vet staff named this little dude while he was under their care, and it just seems to fit.

Todd will be heading to a foster home where he will be closely monitored closely while his lungs 🫁 continue to heal. Again, if you have the means to donate to his care, check out the link on the previous post below! 👇🏼

Well, we stepped out of the dog/cat rescue realm and took in an Ewok.

All jokes aside, our little 2 year old ShihTzu friend is in rough shape. He was hit by a car and has severe lung bruising. It’s so bad, he has to be on oxygen to breathe right now—which is not cheap. 💰

Pups on oxygen look a little different than humans, so he is going to have to be hospitalized 🏥 and kept in a special sealed kennel where the oxygen is pumped in. His estimate for his care is $3,000-$4,000.

If you all have the means to donate to our new friend’s care, it would be so appreciated! We cannot keep up his care without your help.

What a month for this little boy! He lost all those mats, gained 3.5 lb., had 8 painful rotten teeth pulled, and an oronasal fistula closed. We are SO grateful for your support & making this possible!! 🙌🏻🫶🏻👏🏼

Patrick is a sweet, gentle, happy little friend. Thank you for helping us give him the fresh start he deserves!! ❤️And thank you to his veterinary team at Noah's Westside Animal Hospital & All Pet Express, and to Lisa LaMar for the glow-up grooming!

02/20/2024

It’s the snaggletooth for us… 😍 Patrick 😍

He will hopefully be done with bandages for his wounds this week, then a haircut & a dental cleaning, and he will be ready for his forever fam!

We’ve got a sweet update for you on this snowy Saturday! ❄️
Remember Ronan? Ronan came into rescue after being purchased from a pet store, and being diagnosed with inflammatory bowel disease. We had the *HARDEST* time getting weight on this boy, and he had multiple re**al prolapses. His foster mama had come to terms with the idea he might never get adopted.
Well, Ro’s perfect forever people were out there and found him! He’s gaining weight, currently weighing in at 51 lbs (!!!) is on a strictly vegan diet (vegan marshmallows are his favorite snack), and is having fairly normal poops! 💩
Happy tails to Ro and his forever family. You hit the jackpot buddy!!! 🏆 Thanks for letting us be a short-ish stop on your journey.
