Happy 4th of July!!
As the 4th of July approaches, we at Esec Indianapolis want to remind everyone to be careful, don’t drink and drive, don’t drink and light fireworks, and to be responsible all around.
Fireworks are extremely dangerous if not handled correctly, not only can you put yourself and others around you in danger, you can also start fires if not handled correctly.
We all at ESEC Indianapolis would love to see everyone have all ten fingers still attached July 5th!
Enjoy the holiday, be safe, and be responsible!

More pics from yesterday’s adult FF1&2 class, as you can see, they worked on the technical skills that it takes to extricate people.
With advancements in air bags, and EV cars they have to pay a lot of attention of where they’re cutting!
Happy Mother’s Day to all of the hardworking first responder moms out there! Hope you have a quiet day 😁!!

Adult FF1&2 conducted their flashover training today. Special thanks to the Instructors for showing the recruits what it’s like not only to see the way hydrocarbons can become fuel themselves, but also thermal layers work.
The spring 2024 adult FF1&2 class did physical training lead by PT Instructor Chelsea Moore.
This career will break you down physically and mentally if you don’t stay fit, a lot of Departments are implementing workouts daily. In order to be the best we can be when needed, we need to be in the best shape.
WOD (workout of the day) and Deck Of Cards (iykyk) are great workouts to do in gear and on air. This builds confidence, and a very fine tuned knowledge of air consumption to the point when your bottle is almost empty, and the low air vibe alert is going off, you know you can power through without panicking.
Recruits, stay in this mindset, you will love a long and awesome career and beyond if you do!
One of the adult FF1&2 students working on ventilation procedures that are performed by truck crews (ladder truck).
Ventilation is key, as it can make or break a fire, having ventilation with no water on the fire coinciding can be detrimental on the fire ground.
The adult FF1&2 class has been working on hose advancement techniques, VEIS (Vent-Enter-Isolate-Search), and roof ventilation.
They have just a short while to go before graduation, they have grown so much and accomplished more than they thought they could!
Today the Area 31 students worked on wall breaches under limited visibility, this helps build confidence when it comes to the real deal, as they will have the ability to remember having done it before (muscle memory).
RIT (Rapid Intervention Team), a standby ready to go team of firefighters to be the rescue members of downed firefighters while inside!
using the ESEC grounds for training! If you see a lot of coming and going this is why, there will be firefighters from all over the world attending over the next week.
ESEC is proud to be one of the hosting sites for critical training that will help firefighters become better at what they do, which in turn is given back to the communities they serve!
Today Area 31 students worked on self extrication through a wire box.
This is to simulate going through a wall, or other area that could have wires, ropes, etc that make passing through hard.
This helps build a foundation for when/if they find themselves in a similar situation they’re prepared for it and less likely to panic as they can revert to their training.
We all at ESEC Indianapolis wish everyone a very merry holiday!
1. Please remember, close before you doze.
2. Water the real tree (dry Christmas trees are a huge fire hazard).
3. if you’re deep frying a turkey, keep it away from everything outdoors, make sure it’s thawed all the way, and no moisture content before putting it in the pot. Hot oil and water don’t mix.
4. If you’re lonely or having a hard time, reach out, there is plenty of assistance out there, even if it’s just someone to talk to ( ).
5. Have a designated driver, drive to arrive, don’t text and drive, and most important, protect the food and gifts you’re bringing for loved ones.
6. Santa, like your local firefighters, loves milk and cookies (specially chocolate chip)!
