Hendricks County Emergency Management Agency
US 40 Fifteen minute Closures scheduled in Hendricks County Tomorrow
HENDRICKS COUNTY, Ind. – The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) announce U.S. 40 traffic will be stopped for approximately15 minutes tomorrow on Tuesday, February 6 beginning after 8 a.m. Hendricks Power will be stringing new power lines across U.S. 40 between County Road 200 and 350 West. There will be numerous times traffic will be stopped for the operation. Motorists are encouraged to seek an alternate route.
INDOT reminds motorists to follow the posted work zone speed limit, use caution and consider worker safety when traveling through a construction zone.

Today will start off mostly sunny but cold with early morning wind chills as low as 7 below zero. Then, clouds will increase and accumulating snow is expected tonight and Martin Luther King Jr day. 1 to 3 inches of new snow is expected, with the highest amounts north of Indianapolis. Bitterly cold temperatures will follow as arctic air builds in. Wind chills will be 10 to 20 below at times Monday night and Tuesday morning. WINTER STORM WARNINGS & WINTER WEATHER ADVISORIES are in effect. Rain will change to freezing rain & sleet from west to east overnight tonight, then change to snow Friday morning. Snow amounts will generally be 1 to 3” with ice amounts less than a quarter of an inch. Winds will increase during Friday. The Friday morning commute will be hazardous, and the Friday evening commute could be as well. Exercise Caution if you must be on the roads on Friday. Freezing rain is expected to begin around 4:30 am Changing to snow around 6:00 am. Due to rain changing to freezing rain/ice pretreatment of roadways will not take place. DPW will have to treat the roadways as this event is taking place. Plainfield DPW crews will arrive at 3:30 Friday morning in preparation of the change over from rain to freezing rain/ice. Crews will concentrate on main drags, bridges, hills, curves and roundabouts. Secondary streets and neighborhoods streets could remain slick during the rush hour. As always please travel with caution! Be safe out there! More updates as we have them.
