Indy Going Blue for IMPD
We want our officers to know that the community of Indianapolis supports them. We will stand with them in every way we can as law abiding citizens.
This page was created as a message of support from the community to IMPD and our first responders. It has grown well beyond Indianapolis and Indiana. Blue lights are shining throughout the United States and beyond to let those who dedicate their lives to public service know their community is behind them. We believe that those who rush in during dire times should have the backing of the community
They still need our prayers...praying for their safety and for a full recovery of the wounded officer.

Beginning this week, IMPD is stepping up our efforts to combat both violence and property crime with data-driven, proactive patrols. Expect to see more visible patrols by officers in marked vehicles and officers out on foot. These increased patrols are planned for specific days and times to maximize their impact.
This initiative will take place across all IMPD districts. We will continuously assess the effectiveness of our strategies through data analysis, and we will adapt accordingly.
This focused and strategic approach aims to reduce and prevent violence and property crime, promote community engagement, and improve the quality of life in our neighborhoods.
We look forward to seeing you in the community!
I have no words...

Update on the IMPD officer injured Sunday...
Wanted to say a heartfelt thank you to Indianapolis' First Responder Community after a very busy weekend in the Circle City.
We know PTO days were canceled, long shifts were mandatory and overtime was expected. You missed birthdays, anniversaries, special events with family and friends...all to watch over our citizens and visitors. IMPD News , Indianapolis EMS , Indianapolis Fire Department , Marion County Sheriff's Office (IN) (and many others who stepped in to help) THANK YOU for providing a safe environment and showcasing the very best of Indianapolis for the world to see.
Please keep our officers in your thoughts and prayers today...
IMPD officer injured in serious crash on Indy's southwest side An Indianapolis police officer had to be rushed to the hospital Sunday after being involved in a serious crash on the city's southwest side.
YES!! Hey Irvington area, looks like IMPD East District has you guys covered. We'll done Officer Gomez.
Looking forward to the prosecutor's office holding the thief accountable
Late Shift Officer patrolling Irvington catches Car Thief in the act.
IMPD East District Late Shift Officer J. Gomez who is assigned to patrol the Irvington neighborhood during the overnight hours was proactively patrolling at 1:30am on February 8th searching for potentially suspicious activity due to recent car break ins and stolen vehicles.
Around the 5500 block of Bonna Ave, Officer Gomez observed a subject, inside a White KIA attempting to steal it. Officer Gomez knew this area had recently been a hot zone for stolen KIA vehicles and approached the subject. As Officer Gomez approached him, he jumped out of the car with plyers in his hands. Officer Gomez attempted to detain the subject at which time he resisted, fled on foot, but was quickly apprehended due to Officer Gomez’s lightning quick speed.
The KIA had a busted window, which was part of what initially caught the attention of Officer Gomez as he investigated and was also later discovered to have a stolen plate.
The subject was placed under arrest for
Unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle, Possession of Methamphetamine, Resisting Law Enforcement and also had an open warrant for his arrest.
This is what a dedicated IMPD Patrol Officer looks like… out in the middle of the night looking for crime and keeping our community safe… even when everyone else is sleeping.
Thank you Officer Gomez for your service and keep up the good work.
Something funny for this Friday morning...
We love our brothers and sisters at the Fire Department but we knew something was dubious when Chief Foley invited Eamon to tour some of Plymouth’s Fire Stations and see their lush accommodations….
Eamon was so impressed that the firefighters had their own beds. (All Police Officers are).
Eamon hopped up on a bunk, and couldn’t believe its comfort. Chief Foley leaned in and whispered in Eamon‘s ear “This can be yours if you transfer over to us…”
Thank the Heavens above that Eamon’s handler, Officer Greg Lapollo heard this indecent proposal and the two abruptly left the tour.
Eamon peed on a fire hydrant on his way out.
Eamon is going to stick with us, and continue doing his awesome work for this community!
The Plymouth Fire Department is going to continue doing their awesome work….Without Eamon.
What a beautiful way to remember this sweet girl...
Praying for the officer who had to spend the night in the hospital following this accident...

He saved the life of a woman and her infant at the price of his own. He deserves to be remembered. Praying comfort over his family, friends, and brothers and sisters in blue.
Officer Rod L. Bradway
EOW 9/20/13.
Ten years ago Officer Bradway saved two lives while sacrificing his own. Officer Bradway is survived by his wife and two children. He will forever be missed and never forgotten.
September 20, 2013 at approximately 1:52am, Officer Rod Bradway, 41, responded to a domestic disturbance in the Eagle Pointe Apartment complex in the 6700 block of Eagle Pointe Drive North.
Upon arrival, Officer Bradway heard a woman screaming for help inside an apartment. He called for backup on his radio and told fellow officers to “step it up.” A Northwest District Control operator asked Officer Bradway if he needed more assistance. He replied, “Yeah, I got to try and force entry.” Officer Bradway then forced his way through the apartment’s door to help the woman and her infant child. Officer Bradway was ambushed by a male suspect hiding behind the door. Officer Bradway was mortally wounded by the suspect. Officer Bradway was able to fire his service weapon eight times, with many of the shots striking the suspect. Officer Maurice Shipley arrived during the gun battle and also shot the suspect, who was struck at least seven times. He died at the scene.
Medics rushed Officer Bradway to Wishard Hospital at approximately 2:10am. He passed away shortly thereafter.
Investigators later learned the suspect held the woman, described as his girlfriend, and her child hostage for several hours before the woman made her way to the apartment balcony and yelled for help. Investigators believed the suspect intended to kill the woman, her infant child and possibly take his own life.
“The city of Indianapolis lost a decorated hero, husband and father today”, Mayor Greg Ballard said, “Officer Rod Bradway gave his life protecting the people of our community by charging ahead to confront the unknown.”
Chief Rick Hite said, “Blessed are the peacemakers in our community who wear the blue, and thank God for people like Rod in this police department.” Chief Hite posthumously awarded Officer Bradway the Purple Heart and Medal of Honor.
Director of Public Safety Troy Riggs called the murder of Officer Bradway “an attack against what is right in our city.”
The funeral held at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in downtown Indianapolis attracted over 4,000 officers and citizens who wanted to pay their respects to one of Indianapolis’ finest. Officer Bradway’s final resting place is in the Crown Hill Cemetery’s Heroes of Public Safety section.
Officer Bradway was a member of IMPD’s 3rd Recruit Class. He served the department for five years, and recently received the department’s Medal of Bravery for saving a suicidal man intent on killing himself.
Prior to joining the IMPD, Officer Bradway was a member of the Wayne Township Fire Department as a firefighter/EMT for 10 years. Firefighters, paramedics, and EMTs knew him as a dedicated man always looking for ways to help people. Many of them described Officer Bradway as a true public servant.
Always looking out for others, Officer Bradway and his wife, Jamie, organized a pet relief drive, collecting dog food, cat food and other supplies for the victims of the May 2013 tornado in Moore, Oklahoma.
Officer Bradway grew up in Nappanee, IN and is survived by his wife, son, and daughter.
Officer Rod Lee Bradway will forever be missed and never forgotten.
Never forget
