Successful treatment outcomes can sometimes happen when life experiences force us to embrace other concepts.

Like the concept of biosystems having individual consciousness. In this article John Upledger, DO, OMM, explains why it may be worthwhile to try dialoguing with the consciousness of body systems, organs and tissues before taking more invasive steps. Reading can lead to believing, and it starts here: https://bit.ly/3apNmTO

What is Craniosacral Therapy? The body’s own priorities for change are listened for, and encouraged to arise. The art of the therapist is to connect with the underlying forces of health, and facilitate a process of natural reorganization. These forces expressed as subtle motion of tissues and fluids that can be felt by sensitive hands. Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy takes a whole-person approach to healing, and the inter-connectedness of mind, body, and spirit are deeply acknowledged.
By developing the skill of being in our own body we can track our responses and begin to know what is happening around us more clearly.

Here are some examples of Client healings: Nothing speaks louder than experience...What IS Cranio Sacral Therapy!??? Simply put, it's a fancy and most likely unfamiliar word for... our “Ability to Heal”... And we all have it within us. So, with that said, I'd like to share with you some experiences I've had with individuals who've come to see me for help with this non-intrusive healing art. I've learned through these experiences as well as my own...that we do not have to live with pain that doesn't change.

A gentleman who suffered frequent and severe migraines had a session. He had one more migraine during the week and after the second session, I didn't see him again for a year. When he came back for help with a tension headache, he stated his migraines had completely stopped after the second session a year ago. No more pain meds!

A one month old baby girl with a misshapen head and a diagnosis called Torticollis. (It's a very tight fixed neck muscle that pulls the head to one side and prevents movement.) The Doctors told the mother that they could possibly correct it with surgery. During the session, the neck muscle relaxed and the tightly knotted muscle lengthened naturally. Thus.... No surgery was needed!

A friend called late at night. She was ready to call an ambulance. Her husband was on the floor with severe back pain. He couldn't get up or move. After an hour session on the living room floor with him, he was able to get up and limp to his bed. Another 45 minutes of session and he was sleeping soundly.

A phone call in the morning reported that he hopped out of bed in the morning not only free of pain but he stated “feeling better than he had in years!”

An elderly lady with arthritis, had difficulty knitting, climbing stairs, and simply turning her head. After a few sessions, everything was easier with comfortable and increased range of motion of her head, neck, hands and legs. She still had arthritis but was happy to be able to move and do...More!

A chronic painful neck and headaches...Who'd have guessed that it went back to a birth experience when the umbilical cord had been wrapped around her neck during birth. As the pain released, the mind and body returned to where the memory was held in the body of the traumatic experience suffered so long ago. A final healing experience had just occurred for this 30 year old gal.

Childhood abuse...When years of psychotherapy has taken a person a long way and the body continues to suffer pain and bewildering physical symptoms of discomfort, an opportunity now exists for the body to heal the memories stored and a final completion of healing from the past can occur.

I was asked to assist a man in a coma. I brought a second therapist with me to the nursing home. She was at his head and I went to his feet. Gradually we witnessed the color returning to his cheeks and skin and within the hour he first began to move his feet, and then with his left hand, squeezed his Mother's hand. He squeezed his Wife's hand with his right hand and then...he opened his eyes.
Lotsa' happy tears!

A young lady was in a car accident and after 2 years, lots of doctors, physical therapy and even a pain center was still suffering pain. Finally an inability to perform her work duties left her depleted and feeling helpless and depressed, when she came for a session. Each session gave her back hope and lifted her spirits as the constantly painful areas began to feel better and eventually even not hurt any more. She got her life back on track!

“Stillness of mind means your mind empties of thoughts, which is a relief as thoughts are in many ways tiring. With the emptiness comes expansiveness and timelessness. It’s as if without thoughts we become timeless. This is a wonderful quality to manifest in your relational touch and will precipitate stillness in your client. This is a powerful thing as everyone needs stillness. It’s a going back to our deepest nature before the mind and thoughts developed.” Cranial Intelligence – Ged Sumner and Steve Haines

CranioSacral to the Rescue

Walter is a fifty-nine-year-old financial advisor who suffered
his first bout of trigeminal neuralgia in April of 2001. According
to the Merck Manual, “Trigeminal neuralgia is pain due to malfunction
of cranial nerve V, which carries sensory information from
the face to the brain and controls the muscles involved in chewing.”
At first Walter’s doctor diagnosed him with sinusitis and said he
needed surgery to drain the sinus over his right eye. He went for
a second opinion at Massachusetts Eye and Ear and was told that
they couldn’t determine the cause of his pain, but he didn’t need
surgery on his sinuses. His doctor then gave him a prescription for
Neurontin and referred him to a neurologist.
Two months later Walter was seen by the neurologist. Since the
Neurontin had provided no relief, he was switched to Tegretol. This
caused his white blood cell count to drop so low that the drug had
to be discontinued. The next drug they tried was Trileptal. After
his neurologist left the area, a new one added Baclofen.
Walter was still experiencing pain on these drugs, so a consultation
with a neurosurgeon was recommended. He suggested that
Walter read about the Gamma Knife technique, which uses focused
radiation to destroy the nerve and relieve the pain permanently.
A friend of Walter’s recommended that he look into nutritional
supplements and cranial osteopathy instead of surgery. He located
The Upledger Institute’s website, where he found my name and
gave me a call. He wanted to know if I had worked on anyone with
trigeminal neuralgia and if I’d had success treating the condition.
He also wanted to know how many treatments he would need. I
told him I’d had success with a woman who experienced trigeminal
neuralgia after a car accident, but that I couldn’t promise he
would get the same results. I told him to try six treatments to start,
since he had already had the pain for over two years.
Our first session was memorable.Walter arrived looking drawn
237
from lack of sleep and taut from constant pain. As he filled out the
questionnaire the smoke detector went off, adding to his discomfort.
Once he settled down on the treatment table he could not
shut down his left brain. Why did I have my hands on his sacrum?
What was I feeling in his body? What did he need to do when the
session was over?
Despite all the questions,Walter’s body began to release. His cranial
rhythm was shallow, asymmetrical, and had very little flexion.
His entire right side felt compressed, especially the sacrum and cranial
base.We focused on these areas, and he was able to reconnect
with himself as an eighteen-year-old, to the time when he was
knocked down and hit his head on a sidewalk. This was only one of
many stories that Walter’s bones, fascia, and organs had to tell.
Walter was pleasantly surprised to learn that his body could
speak about the injuries, both physical and emotional, that had
occurred throughout his life. The first session ended on a positive
note, with decreased pain, so he scheduled more visits.
Walter was treated twice a week, usually by me and colleague
Pam McCormack, also a certified CranioSacral Therapist. As his
pain continued to decrease in intensity and frequency,we began to
see another side of him. He had a good sense of humor and took
delight in kidding around with us. This change was primarily due
to the fact that, as his pain decreased and his sleep increased, his
true nature began to emerge. He often said that he felt we had given
him his life back. I reminded Walter that we had simply opened
space for his body to do great work.
After four months of treatment Walter began making plans to
go abroad. Unfortunately his plans came to a halt when his car was
hit by another car. This caused a recurrence of the trigeminal neuralgia,
along with typical whiplash symptoms in his back and neck.
After another three months of therapy his pain was diminished significantly.
Walter had been instructed in the use of a Still Point Inducer
and an herbal wrap for his back. He had established a daily morning
CranioSacral Therapy and Adults
238
routine of stretching and strengthening exercises. He was now ready
for his trip.
When Walter returns from his two months abroad he will probably
resume therapy at least once a month. There are more stories
for his body to tell, and he is an individual ready and willing to do
the work.

Dalai Lama says: "Every type of happiness and suffering can be divided into 2 main categories: mental and physical. Of the two, it is the mind that exerts the greatest influence on most of us. If we are not ill, if the body is content, we virtually ignore it. The mind, however, registers every event, no matter how smal...l.... Therefore we should focus our most serious efforts on bringing about mental peace."
