According to the article, published in in 2007, "about 0.4% of all cancers in the United States may be attributable to the radiation from CT studies." Further, based on subsequent increases in CT usage, "this estimate might now be in the range of 1.5-2.0%." This estimated risk is heavily dependent on age at time of exposure, the risk being much higher in younger patients, especially children. This reflects both a greater sensitivity to radiation effects in younger patients and a longer expected lifespan during which cancer can develop.

A uTomo for every season
Less radiation, less scatter, quicker scans, and less costly - that’s uTomo technology.
1 degree motion - all that is needed. CTs have always required 360 degrees of rotation for image capture, but uTomo by Xense can capture high quality imaging with only 1 degree of motion.

On March 13, 2021, COVID-19 was raging in New York City. Catherine O'Connor, the marketing associate for Xense Inc., was pacing through her home while on the phone with an airline. She was attempting to cancel her all-inclusive booking to Cancun, which was supposed to take place the following day. Amidst her stress and frustration, she tripped over her computer charger. As she tripped , she completely tore her meniscus muscle in her knee, re-injuring herself; just months prior, she had slightly torn her meniscus. For this previous injury, she had been undergoing helpful physical therapy, but this injury would set her back in her progress.
Catherine went to urgent care where they did initial scans but they informed her that she had to go to another facility for further scans and for an official diagnosis on what was wrong her knee. Since the injury occurred that day, she was not prepared with crutches, or another means of mobility. The first urgent care facility offered her crutches to borrow, unlike the second facility, who actually gave her grief for requesting accessibility.
At the second facility, Catherine was there for hours trying to get an x-ray scan, and afterwards was forced to hop to her car, exhausted and in a lot of pain. After all of this, she still had to wait one to two days to get the results of the scan.
Why does it have to be so difficult to get a simple CT scan?
Well, it doesn't!
