Happy New Year! We just had a nice win in court today. A self-represented Trustee was granted a Heggstad Petition we drafted. What's a Heggstad? This is a court petition when an asset was not transferred properly into your living trust and you're able to make a showing that there was intent to have it be an asset of the trust. Being able to bring an asset into the trust after the death of someone is a huge time and cost savings to your beneficiaries since it avoids a formal probate. If you have a trust -please check title on your assets and if you don't have trust --think about getting one completed! -m

Speaking of Mexican beaches….Happy Monday!

This past year has been incredibly difficult for so many. I’m one of the lucky ones—most my difficulties this past year stem from being way too busy. On one hand, I’m extremely grateful and on the other….I want to give it all up. Today my receptionist gave me this beautiful mug with a lovely message of strength-to remind me of powers beyond myself and my love for beautiful Mexican beaches that often call me & keep me sane. Not only do I but is pretty amazing too! Lucky indeed. Have a fantastic weekend!

Whew! What a day! A probate objection had to be filed today, then I had a limited conservatorship (this is usually for mentally challenged people when they become adults -this one's father just died last month), then it was a deed transferring a property from a trust of a deceased woman to her son, a telephone conference with a woman regarding a custody hearing, then helping a young college student appeal a decision at the university that will end up costing her over $30,000 a year more in tuition (likely having to miss a year of university studies) if not properly appealed. I'm callin it a day....tomorrow's another day! Happy Thursday. 😊
