Disneyana Legend 2007, Disney Legend 2005 and Disneyland 55’er Bill “Sully” Sullivan passed away at 88 yesterday.

Sully worked his way up from ticket taker all the way to Magic Kingdom Vice-President. After 38 years of service to Disney he retired in 1993.

We remember today on Disneys 69th anniversary the memories Sully helped create.

Disney announced today the locations to shop for D23 exclusive merchandise. They have added new shopping experiences such as the Disney Company Store. All stores will use a virtual queue for shopping opportunities at the Anaheim Convention Center on August 9, 10, and 11, 2024.

Disneyana Fan Club will also have a booth! Come shop and visit us.

Happy Birthday, Herbie!
Today, we celebrate the birthday of legendary Disney artist Herbert D. Ryman, Ryman Arts’ eponym, who was born on June 28, 1910. As artist, designer, and mentor to many, Herbie remains an inspiration for us all, and his dedication and passion for educating young artists lives on through the mission of Ryman Arts. To commemorate his birthday, we’re sharing magical moments and memories of Herbie as recollected by his dear friends.

“From the 1950’s through the 1980’s, there was hardly a single image of a Disney park around the world that was not first drawn and revealed to the public though a Herb Ryman illustration…At the same time, Herbie welcomed us into his “other worlds” with his paintings of the California coast around Carmel, sketches and paintings of the Ringling Brothers Circus, and travels new and old: to Asia, Africa, and Europe. When Leah and I invited him to dinner one night, he brought original sketches from his travels for our children, Howard and Leslie. And when we bought ‘our first Ryman’ – a wonderful watercolor of the sea and sea birds, we asked him for the name of the painting. ‘Have Howard and Leslie count the birds,’ he said. ‘That will be the name of the painting.”

“There was nothing that Herbert talked more about than young artists. He felt that if there was any way he personally could help train, be a mentor to, be a big brother to, or be any other role that was helpful and positive, that was what he wanted his life to be mostly about. And so this Foundation, which will lend assistance to and help guide young artists to manifest the spirit that was within Herb Ryman, is probably the best thing that could be done, I believe, in his honor.”

Can you believe our club had been around for about 40 years. Originally as the National Fantasy Fan Club when using Disneyana in your title would have been an issue until we were able to change it to really let everyone know what we are. We are set up as a non profit and all these years we have been volunteer run. We have survived all this time due to the hard work of our volunteers and we are always looking for new talent to help us out. For years we did conventions with amazing talent and experiences. Currently we do 2 weekend events a year along with meetups and the occasional special event. Take the time to join us as we hope to be around for a long time to come.
