Happy Fathers Day! Throughout life there are few things as rewarding as being a dad. Dads must be a good teacher and coach, be tough as nails and a hard worker. Dads need to walk a tightrope every day as a friend, advisor, and disciplinarian, but never forgetting to show a softer side of himself. A Dad is a superhero figure in their kids life, but it’s a role far too complex to be distilled down to pages in a comic book. With all the admiration in the universe-

This morning three of our IPAWA members joined a 4.6 mile memorial run to honor Glendora Police Agent Louie Pompei. On June 9th, 1995 Louie Pompei was killed while intervening in a violent armed robbery at the Vons grocery store in San Dimas.

We are proud to have honored the memory of Louie Pompei, represented the Irvine community, and advanced the cause of first responder wellness.

Our mothers mean so much more than one day can give. I hope you all have a chance to relax and take in the love from your precious infants, hardheaded but snuggly toddlers, patience testing pre-teens, moody and unpredictable teenagers, and
/or independent, self sufficient, grown ups.

All the work and love you put into your kids daily has a direct benefit on them for the rest of their lives. No matter how old your children get, you’ll always be their mommy. Thank you moms!

Team 84 crossed the finish line bright and early today, over 15 minutes faster than anticipated. Official race results were released and team 84 placed 14th in the mixed division and earning the coveted “mug.”

Having the support of our fellow department and community members is truly what makes this race possible, so we would like to thank you all for your support. We wouldn’t be able to compete without you!

Our Irvine Police Running Team is hitting the pavement hard through some pretty intense winds and dust storms, but have managed to beat projected times by several minutes thus far. Wish them luck!

Who wouldn’t want to come watch our very own Irvine Force Hockey team compete at Great Park Ice today? For us it’s about fitness, and camaraderie; but we aren’t ones to turn wins away, either.

If you recall several months ago, the Irvine Police Athletics and Wellness Association partnered with Wood Mountain for a Christmas tree and wreath fundraiser. Our board just received the final tally from the Trees for Troops and Wreaths for Troops programs, and wanted to share the end result. Thank you to all who contributed to those programs. What could be better than raising funds for Police Officer wellness and supporting Military families?

Thank you to everyone who came out in support of our Second Annual Irvine Running Team bowling tournament! Despite having a newcomer nipping at their heels, the Pin Pals took the top spot and are now back to back champions. It was a fun filled night and we look forward to our brewery fundraiser event at Hangar 24 Irvine next month. Stay tuned for more information on that!

For those interested in attending our second annual bowling tournament, we have had to move the date to Tuesday 1/16. The event will still be held at 6PM. We apologize for any inconvenience and hope to see you there!

Irvine Police Athletics and Wellness Association - Fundraiser 4 Us

Yesterday, several members of the Irvine Police Running team participated in the Anaheim Ducks 5k here at Great Park Ice in Irvine. Battling some strong gusty winds, two of our runners placed 2nd and 3rd in their category with 7:00 and 7:36 split times! Training for races is great, but doing it in our own community is even better. A special thanks to the members of the team who weren't able to run because they were working to keep everyone at the event safe. It was a great event all around!

Welcome to the Irvine Police Athletics and Wellness Association! We may be new as a formal organization, but we are no stranger to Irvine. Our goal is to advocate for the physical and mental wellness and morale of the men and women of the Irvine Police Department and promote lifelong fitness in our wonderful community, with a focus on youth.
