Hardy is almost completely healed from stomach surgery, has gained 10 lbs, and skin/ fur looks fantastic!!

He’s been with us almost two months now and wow has it been a whirlwind. Despite his medical stuff, he has been such an easy and enjoyable dog to welcome to the HFFR headquarters. He’s got great behavior, learns routines super quick, loves to play which has been so good for his physical and mental health, and is overall an amazing dog! It’s been such a joy to have him here as a foster dog!! Our girls Milly and Gracie love him and we think he feels the same.

We are looking for monthly donors to help us cover the cost of his care: food monthly $100, CBD monthly $100, vet care monthly $75, meds monthly $80, toys treats pill wrap supplements and other necessities $60 monthly

has made it out of surgery and is on his way back to HFFR headquarters to rest and heal.

He did so well during surgery and had a little pep in his step right after waking up from anesthesia. They kept him overnight to monitor and let us pick him up this morning.

Since he got out surgery less than 6 hours ago he is still on 24/7 watch and care while at home with us. He will be crate bed resting for the next 14 days.

They only had to make one incision in his stomach so they expect a clean recovery for him. They removed a trash can size full amount of eaten p*e pads. We have never had a dog so this before and Hardy has never displayed these behaviors before either. But since his tummy was upset for whatever reason he looked for something to eat to soothe it. Moving forward we will forever be using reusable nonchewable p*e pads (we found a two pack for $25 at chewy.com)

Hardy still isn’t out of the woods yet and needs all the help he can get. Your donations help cover his surgery and after care. Our bill is 7K for this. Thank you for helping!

Hardy boy is heading into life saving surgery for bloat right now at Irvine Valley Vet Hospital.

Yesterday for some reason he wasn’t feeling good and ate the large p*e pads we had down on the ground while we were away from an hour. This is completely out of character for him. We aren’t really sure what caused his upset tummy to make him want to eat the p*e pads trying to soothe his stomach. Once he ate them he was unable to ingest his seizure meds which induced an onset of seizure clusters to happen last night. He’s been at emergency vet since 10pm on IV and constant monitoring.

He wears a little necklace with bells on it to alert staff IG he does have seizures again. We are calling him jingle bells now as a nickname. He’s so adorable a cute. The entire staff loves him and how he pushes his overbite into the front facing sort of the kennel so you can see his adorable little front teeth.

Right now our only option is to do surgery and remove the ingested p*e pads. There’s no way he will be able to pass them on his own and waiting is not an option. Let’s hope it hasn’t gone to his intestines and they can easily remove the blockage.

His vet bill is now over 7K. We started a GoFundMe me to help raise the funds over the next couple weeks.

If all goes well with surgery today he may be able to come home late tonight/ early evening and begin his healing journey of bed rest minimum 14 days while his stomach incision heals.

It’s been a crazy 24 hours for Hardy. He’s currently still at Irvine Valley Emergency vet..

For some reason he had an upset tummy yesterday. We left the house for about an hour and in that time he ate all four big p*e pads which is extremely out of character for him. He never chews or eats anything so this really surprised and concerned us. He then threw up to try to help himself. Well, he threw up his very important seizure meds and we couldn’t get him to keep the meds down. Without meds, he went into seizure withdrawals and had breakthrough seizure clusters. We immediately rushed him to emergency to get stabilized. Luckily before the car ride I was able to get one of his anticonvulsant meds in and he kept it down. This helped him to stop seizing a bit.

He’s been hospitalized since last night 5/2/24. His seizures are stable and he’s been able to take his seizure meds through IV. Now the BIG ISSUE is the blockage in his stomach.

Due to his seizures, they couldn’t force him to throw up and couldn’t go straight to surgery because it may trigger a seizure episode. Plus he was so weak from seizing that he wasn’t in a good place for either of those options which means the only option we had was to wait. We need to see if the blockage is actually stuck or able to move through his system. Xrays are set for today at 1pm which will tell us information for next steps.

We are praying for the best outcome and that the obstruction passes on its own or that he is a candidate for surgery. There is a possibility it won’t pass and it could tear the stomach lining which would be life threatening. Thinking of losing Hardy makes me physically ill. That is not an option. We will fight as hard as we can and do whatever it takes to help him make it out of this alive.

We are begging and pleading for your help. Our vet bill is over 4K right now and still climbing. Please share, donate, and support any way you can! Link in our profile to donate via PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, or GoFundMe. Thank you!

ROME (male pit mix) needs a foster or adopter ASAP! He’s located in Los Angeles.

Rome, neutered male, 2-3 years old, microchipped, and up to dates on vaccines. Fantastic with big and small dogs. Loves walks and does well on leash. House trained. Great companion. Amazing dog.

His story:

He was living outside a casino in a box for days and eventually ended up on the freeway when he was caught.
He’s a sweet boy but still very nervous and unsure of things at times. The person who is helping him is trying to find a home for him. They want to avoid taking him to the shelter so they’re temp holding at their place but desperately needs someone to either foster or adopt. He’s currently located in Los Angeles and is available for foster or adopt in the surrounding areas. Please reach out if you can help! [email protected]

Onyx, 1.5 yr lab pit mix, has found himself at Carson Shelter LA due to landlord problems 💔

The landlord threatened eviction so they had to surrender Onyx to the Carson Shelter in Los Angeles a few days ago.

Name: Xavier
Age: 1.5 years
* Lab pit mix
* Great with kids
* House trained
* Knows basic commands
* does ok with large well behaved dogs. Hasn’t been around a lot of dogs so is still learning play styles and expected behavior. Has had no incidents. Quick learner. Wants to please. Very trainable.
* Not yet neutered but upon adoption or rescue the shelter can coordinate that being completed. This boy is as sweet as they come!

Let’s please all share him so he doesn’t become another statistic in the system. He’s just a baby and such a good boy! He deserves to find a family of his own!!

If anyone is in the area and can go visit him and/or get more content of him (photos and videos) that will deformity help him get seen! You can either post him yourself or send us any content you want shared of Onyx! Let’s work together to help this baby get out!

HFFR alumni Milly chicken bing b**g and Gracie Bear have been living their best life adventuring all over SoCal!

These two have become quite the little pair and are super bonded. They love going on off-road adventures with their humans and enjoying endless cuddles together in the back seat of the car or on the couch!

They’re constantly playing being silly and snoozing side by side. It’s adorable to see! We call them the HFFR branch managers (because they love chewing all the branches in the backyard) and also help us keep things in order over here at Home Fur Friends Rescue. We don’t know what we’d do without them. The saying is true… we aren’t sure who rescued who and most days we feel like they rescued us. ❤️

Spent the day with Sir Buttercup 🥰 He’s the absolute best little dude and so small and sweet!

What a fun day getting to eat lunch with Buttercup and his foster mama! I got to hold him the entire time! Reminded me of holding my baby Ponce golden burrito who passed almost two years ago. I miss having a small tiny dog that will just lay in my arms for hours. Spending time with Buttercup definitely filled my heart with so much love and happiness!

Thank you to his foster mom for giving him the best life ever and taking such great care of him!! He hit the jackpot with you and your family! ☺️💕🐶

Welcome our newest rescue Boba the pug mix! He’s about 10 months old & great with dogs and people!

This little guy came to us after a community member reached out asking for help. They had acquired him from a homeless gentleman earlier this week but couldn’t keep him longterm. They were amazing enough to take him to the vet for checkup, blood work, f***l sample, and rabies shot which is so tremendously helpful and loving! Thank you for being amazing and saving this guy!

We were only able to take him into our rescue with the help of one of our amazing fosters .s and supports like yourself!

Donations are needed to help cover his microchip and upcoming neuter. Once he’s all healed up he’ll be ready for adoption but don’t wait!! If this little guy is pulling at your heart strings, fill out an application to adopt him now! We’ll start the process and officially sign him over to new owners once he’s neutered!

He’s the PERFECT LITTLE PUP! Boba is a pug mix (maybe with chihuahua?) has great energy, loves all sizes of dogs and people, super playful but not too high energy, does great ongoing new places, and is a brave and confident little dude. He will make the best companion for anyone who’s looking for a fun playful pup! He’s about a year old and is ready to find his furever home!

HAPPY ADOPTION DAY SWEET GIRL GRACIE!!!

This amazing angel of a dog waited one whole year to find her perfect forever family. We always believe that everything works out for a reason and with this adoption it absolutely did! Her new family lost their beautiful dog at 14 years old in October of this year and when they saw a post of Gracie a couple months later in December they immediately felt a connection with her. After their dogs passing it left them and their other dog Lexi (who was adopted from ) and they were all a bit sad after their loss, especially their dog Lexi. They knew adding a new dog to the home could help all of them heal. Gracie happens to be that perfect little Angel they were waiting for. The moment they met it was like it was meant to be all along and that gracie had been waiting all this time so that things could align and she could end up with them. Gracie has brought so much joy happiness and love to their home this past week while staying with them. Their other dog Lexi’s spirit has brightened up and she’s so happy having another friend in the home again. Her new family says Gracie is the perfect dog and they’re so happy they found her.

We are beyond thankful for this amazing family welcoming Gracie into their home and giving her the absolute best life ever. She gets walked 4 times a day, endless cuddles, home cooked meals, too many toys to count, and gets to sleep in bed with her new mama every night. She’s so spoiled and so loved, we couldn’t have asked for anything better for sweet girl Gracie.

She came to us Dec 2022 after being attacked in her kennel at West Valley LA shelter. Her wounds were extensive and after many months of healing and vet visits, she grew stronger and healed up beautifully. Now she’s as healthy as can be living her best life with her furever family in Beverly Hills! Happy Tails little lady! We’re so happy for you!!!!

Today we unexpectedly lost one of the best dogs, Blue girl, and we are beyond devastated.

We wish her story had a different ending. Oh how badly we wanted her to defeat the odds, get strong and healthy again, and be adopted into a loving home.

Over the last many months we had taken her to multiple vets for bloodwork and tests to figure out what was going on with her. Never once did they say cancer, but we kept asking to look further because something wasn’t right.

On Wednesday we took her in to the vet and her elbows looked extremely enlarged. Overnight, it swelled immensely and she declined quickly, stopped eating drinking and walking. Her body condition had become extremely poor over the last month as she kept losing more and more weight.

Today we discovered that she has cancerous tumors growing within her joints which is spreading at a rapid rate. It was highly recommended we let her go peacefully so she not suffer any longer. We honored what she was needing and released her soul to be free from this body of pain she was within.

Devastated is an understatement. We are absolutely gutted by this loss. She was the most incredible dog with so much personality and love to give everyone!

We are so sorry we feel like we let all of you down with this loss. We so badly wanted this to be different.

Blue was loved tremendously over these last few months and today we decided to personally adopt her so that she can leave this world knowing she mattered to all of us.

We pray her spirit continues to guide us and give us strength. We will miss you so much Blue girl. Fly free sweet angel. We are so sad 💔

Adoptable 2 year old Gracie is waiting for her forever home! 🌸🙏🐶💕 (this is not HFFR alumni gracie who we rescued and adopted 6 years ago)

This sweet angel came to us a few months ago from the shelter after she had been brutally attacked by her kennel mate, with deep wounds to her legs, chest, head and neck.

With the help of this amazing community we fundraised enough to get her the immediate medical care needed for her wounds to heal and with the help of her incredible foster, she has healed back to a healthier and stronger version than ever before!

Gracie is super loved and spoiled, enjoys scrumptious meals with her fur friends, lounging with her humans, sunbathing in the yard, medium to short walks around the neighborhood, playtime with friends, and basically anything else a really really good dog enjoys doing!

She’s great with dogs of all sizes and kids too. She does better in a home with a dog so we prefer she isn’t the only dog in the home, she gets too lonely and is much happier with a dog friend companion!

She’s a fantastic dog we don’t have one complaint about her! She truly is amazing.

We hope to find her a forever home soon so she can start her happily ever after.

If you’d like to adopt Gracie, you can fill out an app on our website www.homefurfriends.org

HAPPY ADOPTION DAY TO MISS MOO MOO SWEET ANGEL GIRL! 🌸💕🐶🎉

This adorable girl came to us earlier this year with a torn ACL. We were able to get her lifesaving surgery and she has since recovered back to full strength all thanks to her amazing supporters, donors, and foster family!

Moo Moo’s foster family has fallen in love with her and can’t imagine life without her. They never intended to adopt another pittie, but when the right dogs cane around, they knew it was the right move to make part of the family officially.

We are so thrilled for Moo Moo and her happily ever after! 🥂 Cheers to good times and a furever life of love, treats, and cuddles!

Adoptable 8 year old Bentley is still waiting for his furever family to adopt him! 🐶

All about Benny/ Bentley:
• spunky, energetic, fun loving, outgoing, playful, not so cuddly, independent, and extremely smart
• tiny 11 lb guy! But oh is he mighty strong! He has this little body built with strong little muscles, it’s so cute to see in person!
• nervous in new situations and around new people - does best with slow introductions and positive reinforcements (treats)
• very very smart and would love be trained and learn new things!
• likes small/ medium dogs, cats, and other small animals. Learning to be confident and calm around big dogs. With proper intros he could do ok in a home with a big mellow dog.
• older kids or no kids preferred
• isn’t really the cuddly type, but he will lay by you on the cough while lounging
• he loves treats and snacks and going on walks in the neighborhood
• has special diet with pancreas powder medicine needed monthly to help him digest and aboard his food to get all the nutrients so he stays strong and healthy

If you’d like to set up a meet and greet to meet Bentley - fill out an app to adopt on our website and we will contact you to schedule a meeting so you can see how wonderful Bentley is in person!!

Happy Adoption day for the sweetest ten month old puppy Maggie!! 😍💕🌸🧁

She truly hit the jackpot with her new mama! They had met months ago and fell in love. Finally the timing has aligned and it’s the right time to adopt a new dog into their home - Maggie of course was the perfect choice! They bonded instantly and Maggie was right at home in her new mamas arms.

This sweet girl came to us at only 3 months old from Long Beach Animal Care shelter where she was picked up as a stray. After being rescued she went to foster home and is now adopted!

We are so thrilled for Maggie!! We can’t wait to see all of the fun updates of her growing up and enjoying life!🎉🥰👏🐶🐾

Hardy is home from the hospital and has been seizure free since Saturday (4 days)!

During his emergency overnight stay, they cared for him 24/7 and monitored him to make sure he didn’t have anymore seizures. They also started him on anticonvulsant medication. He was discharged to go home to his fosters on Sunday 6/25.

He will now be on life long medicine for seizures. Right now we are trying phenobarbital as his primary medication to help his seizures. He will need this medication morning and night for the rest of his life. He is also taking VetCBD to help with his anxiety. He’s been anxious and making little crying whimpering noises since his seizures.

These seizures are extremely tough on his body and mind. He is still weak in his hind legs and wobbly when he walks which is to be expected for a couple weeks. He’s nervous and always looking for his fosters. His seizures really scared him and took it out of him physical, mentally, and emotionally. Poor guy.

Hardy is now home with his fosters, resting, and getting better.

We still need your help to raise $300 more to cover his most recent vet bill and $60 to get him CBD to help with his anxiety, especially since the 4th of July is right around the corner and he’s centered right in the middle of loud LA fireworks🙏🐾

Please consider helping Hardy. Every cent makes a huge difference. Thank you!!

HFFR Summer 2023 Pawty was a success! So many adorable pups & amazing people!

This was our first annual summer party where we invite our fosters and HFFR foster dogs, alumni dogs and adopters, as well as donors/ supporters/ volunteers! The intention is to carve out time of our busy lives to all get together and connect!! Creating community within our rescue is important to us because it truly takes a TEAM to run this rescue. Everyone who donates, fosters, shares, networks, adopts, and advocates for our dogs are part of the HFFR team. If you’re reading this and you’re someone who supports us, then you are part of our team too!! 🐶❤️ We appreciate everything you do. No act is too small. Every intention makes a difference!

We plan to have many more get together and future events like group adoption park walks, mini fundraisers, and more! Cheers to an amazing event and many more to follow.

We are so blessed to do this work every day. The dogs we save are truly heaven sent. No matter how tough rescue can get, the good always outweighs the bad!! ☺️👏

It’s official… We are adopting Milly to be our forever family member & HFFR manager!

All of this happened as an utter surprise to us, but when it’s meant to be it’s meant to be.

Milly came to stay with us at HFFR headquarters three months ago after many foster homes fell through due to one reason or another. (Divine intervention? Possibly!)

To be honest, we were not mentally or emotionally in a space to bring in a new dog…. We had two senior dogs who were on the decline and a lot of personal life pressures asking for more of our time and attention. Bringing in a puppy to the family was not on the agenda and was hard to adjust to at first. With time and patience from all of us involved, we learned to manage the dynamic but still planned to have Milly adopted once she was fully trained.

Then last month, we ended up losing our two senior boys which left us with just one dog, Gracie Bear.

During the time we were fostering Milly, her and Gracie Bear became quick friends…almost instant family. They became inseparable, always waking up from a nap and looking for the another so they could play rough house and cuddle. Our senior dogs, Doc and Nick, would watch them play and in a way we think this gave them peace to pass on knowing that Gracie Bear wouldn’t be left alone, but rather she’d have a new friend to help her.

Milly has been the best blessing to come into our lives during a time we didn’t know we needed it. Her love, patience, strength, and wit has carried us through the darkest times into the brightest moments. The house feels full of light and joy having her around. We are all so thankful for how this unfolded! Life truly is a blessing when you open your heart to receiving miracles.

For now, residing at the HFFR headquarters, are the two humans, Seth and Emily along with Milly and Gracie Bear the pups, and Truffles the tortoise! 👫🐶🐶🐢

Happy Adoption Day sweet Clover girl! 🥹💕🎉☘️ What a celebration!!!

We are overjoyed to have found the perfect home for 4 year old Clover.

Her fosters had stepped up to foster her with the intention of adoption but after realizing she was way more energy than they were able to physically handle, they sought out to help find her the perfect home.

During the time she was being fostered she regularly went on daily walks with her dog walker (pictured here). They quickly fell in love and knew they needed to make it official.

Last weekend, Clover started her new journey with her dad and she’s been living the best life going on adventures, playing with dog friends, and getting lots of cuddles.

Happy adoption day to sweet girl Clover who was rescued within hours of being euthanized. Cheers to happy long life, we love you baby girl!!!

Maybelle is feeling good with thyroid meds, but needs help with hair loss!

The hypothyroid meds have helped her so much with losing weight and gaining energy! She’s so happy and spunky but now she’s dealing with some fur loss and other issues like her calcium levels and GI tract.

We’d really like to get her back to the vet as soon as possible for help with her skin and fur loss as well as completing the hypercalcemia test ($600) because she may need additional supplements to help stabilize her levels.

This sweet 10 year old gal has a long beautiful life ahead and with these necessary steps, we will have a clear plan on how to best support her longterm to have the best health.

All donations help Maybelle get healthy and strong and happy!

Blue girl needs your help to raise funds for her medical.

She is the sweetest senior pit who we rescued two months ago from South LA shelter.

Upon rescue, we immediately took her to the vet to have a series of tests done to figure out what was going on with her weight loss, skin/ fur issues, arthritis, and tip of tail that is nonstop bleeding.

Results from the first vet visit concluded that she has very healthy normal bloodwork and normal urine concentration - no indicators of Cushing’s disease.

But we still don’t know what’s causing her issues…

Moving forward we want to explore a few more options / tests to help us get to an answer.

Vet notes:
- Hair loss
- Diarrhea at shelter, stool is improving
- Significant arthritis in elbows and knees thickening crowfoot. Elbows are basically locked in place and is very hard for her to stand for a long period. Back legs have a hopping gate because she can’t bend knees well. Possibly hip issues. Supplements will help maintain good quality of life for time being with her arthritis.

What she needs:
- Hair loss - generalized thinning of skin, possible hypothyroid low thyroid? Could be from Hypoestrogenemia -spayed or a peace of o***y left behind which could become systic. Or possibly Alopecia. We need to do more tests to rule these out and get more information.
- ACTH stimulation test hormone test measuring how much cortisone on her own and how much would she be making if we stimulated it. This is important to get tested because it may explain her hair loss and weight loss.
- Tip of tail is necrotic (dead cells and tissue) from “happy tail” always hitting her tail on things when wagging it so it is likely she will need to have the tip of her tail removed too.
-lump on side of neck on thyroid? Needs further tests!

See our GoFundMe page to view more photos of her skin and body and smiling face! Despite all she’s going through, she’s still the most loving dog ever!!

Penny is enjoying a weekend adventure with her foster family!

She is cleared by the vet to go places (other than home). Penny has a specific regime and routine to ensure she continues to safely heal while also getting to be outside and experience the world.

She loves the large backpack that she gets carried around in and is enjoying the beautiful sunshine and nice people (young little kids) she’s been able to meet and get head scratches from!

Penny is one spunky little gal and likes to bark at all the dogs she sees! She is friends with the smaller dog in her foster home and needs some time to get to know other dogs. We haven’t yet tested her with large dogs.

Penny goes to the vet next week for X-rays and another checkup! All donations help us cover her medical so she can heal and find an amazing forever home!
