On May 22, Medical City Las Colinas colleagues wore pink to recognize the first-ever World Preeclampsia Day. The education event raised awareness of preeclampsia, a complication of pregnancy that usually begins after 20 weeks and where patients might have high blood pressure or other signs of organ damage. If left untreated, it can lead to serious, even fatal, complications for both mother and baby.
Thank you to our women's services and maternal program teams for providing vital education to improve lives in our community.

If you have — or think you might have — a mental illness, the first thing you must know is that you are not alone. According to NAMI, 1 in 5 U.S. adults experience mental illness each year. A mental illness is a condition that affects a person’s thinking, feeling, behavior or mood. These conditions deeply impact day-to-day living and may also affect the ability to relate to others.

HCA Healthcare Behavioral Health provides a network of inpatient, outpatient, pediatric, adult, geriatric and specialty services to meet each patient’s unique needs. With 58 inpatient programs and more than 200 outpatient programs across 17 states, HCA Healthcare has one of the most connected networks of behavioral health treatment centers in the U.S.

Mental health nurses like Madison Kemp work alongside psychiatrists, advanced practice nurses, therapists and mental health technicians to support the emotional, psychological, and social well-being of our patients. Madison serves at HCA Healthcare’s Medical City Green Oaks Hospital, which offers a full continuum of exceptional psychiatric services in North Texas.

“Every day, I step into my role not only as a nurse but as an advocate and guide for patients navigating complexities of mental health challenges,” Madison shared. “I’m reminded every day that the heart of mental health nursing is the profound connection between human beings.”

To enhance the positive impact that she makes on others as a nurse, Madison is in school to pursue a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner degree. This Mental Health Awareness Month, please join us in thanking HCA Healthcare Behavioral Health colleagues, like Madison, for their commitment to improving the mental health and well-being of our patients and communities.
