Dear valued patient family:

We hope this message finds you and your loved ones in good health. Our community has been through a lot over the last few months, and all of us are looking forward to resuming our normal habits and routines. While many things have changed, one thing has remained the same: our commitment to your safety.

Infection control has always been a top priority for Dr. Rando and Dr. Schaff. With guidance from the American Dental Association (ADA), the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), we’ve reworked normal office logistics in a way consistent with the most up-to-date infection control protocols protecting our patients and staff. These are some of the changes you may see when it is time for your next appointment:

• Our office will communicate with you beforehand to ask some screening questions. You’ll be asked those same questions again when you arrive at the office, as well as have your temperature taken.
• If you have forms that need to be filled out prior to your appointment, we will bring them out to your car.
• When you arrive, please remain in your car, and call or text the office to inform us of your arrival. A team member will give you instructions and meet you outside the front door when we are ready.
• We ask that you wear a cloth face covering or surgical mask to your appointment, which we will ask you to remove when we are ready to begin with treatment.
• We will ask that you wash your hands or use hand sanitizer upon your arrival. We will be disinfecting and wiping down doors, door handles and commonly touched patient objects hourly.
• Our waiting room will have limited seating and no longer offer magazines, children’s toys and so forth, since those items are difficult to clean and disinfect.
• Appointments will be managed to allow for social distancing between patients. That might mean you’re offered fewer options or times for scheduling your appointment. However, we will be expanding our hours to help accommodate for the missed months and rescheduled visits.
• We will help expedite your “check out”, payment and scheduling process as your appointment ends.

Aside from these changes that we are making in our own office, we know that this time has forced many difficult changes for our patients. If you have specific concerns about changes to your own medical or oral/dental health, changes to your finances, or changes to your dental insurance, please contact our office at (517) 787-4712 to discuss further with a helpful team member.

As you can imagine, we have many patients who have deferred treatment since mid-March as well as patients who are already scheduled in the coming weeks. We ask for your patience and appreciate your flexibility as we work on accommodating all our patients in the most timely way feasible. We look forward to seeing you again and are happy to answer any questions you may have about the steps we take to keep you--and every patient--safe in our practice. To inquire further or make an appointment, please call our office at (517) 787-4712.

Thank you for your understanding and continued loyalty. We value your trust and look forward to welcoming you back!

Sincerely,

Dr. Rando, Dr. Schaff, and our entire team

We have recognized for many COVID-19 has created a hard time financially, however, we do not want you to put off your orthodontic wants and needs. We are offering a special with up to $1,000 off if you contact us over this time and schedule a records appointment for after we return. Feeling Helpless About the Coronavirus? 10 Things You Can Do 03/30/2020

In these times of uncertainty, we LOVE hearing about the positive going on in our community. We are trying to do our part by donating extra masks and gloves to local health centers, but we've also heard stories of food delivery for those who can't leave their homes, making Easter dinner food baskets for donation, and visiting grandparents "virtually" through platforms like Zoom and Facetime.

Our friends at Michigan Medicine have come up with some tips for us all to stay positive:

FOR INVISALIGN PATIENTS:

Dr. McCoy and his office team wish you all well during this unique shelter-in-place event.

We hope you are able to spend this time caring for your family, helping with the education of your children and being proud of the sacrifices that you are making to keep others safe. We are very proud of all of you and are keeping your well-being in our thoughts.

For the past two weeks, Dr. McCoy’s team made a wonderful effort to get as many of our Invisalign patients into a sufficient number of Invisalign aligners as possible so that their treatment can continue.

Dr. McCoy is very proud and appreciative of the efforts of his team, which have been met with a lot of happy, relieved smiles from our adult patients and from the parents of our younger patients. Your care and comfort is always our first priority!

All appointments have been cancelled due to the shelter-in-place order. We will resume regular appointment times once the order is lifted.
What few emergencies we may have can be seen as needed.
We are available for questions from any of our patients: Invisalign patients, braces patients, our younger patients in expanders (who should all stop turning their appliances until further notice).

If you do not have many Invisalign aligners left, you can wear each one for two to three weeks, instead of the usual one week.
If you run out of aligners, simply wear your current one for nights only, to maintain your progress until appointments resume.

Invisalign patients wearing elastics should continue them, please.

Braces patients: your wires do continue to work. Keep your teeth clean, and if you are wearing elastics, we will want you to stop wearing them around the time of your now-cancelled appointment. We can always resume the elastics later.

Stay safe, stay healthy and cherish this time with your family. Play some games, tell some stories from your childhood to your children, create some new memories together, reach out to your friends and be as proud of what you are doing for your community as we are of you.

All the best, Dr. McCoy and his team

Dear valued patients,

Dr. Rando and Dr. Schaff have continued to monitor the constantly-evolving situation related to COVID-19 and its implications for our patients, our staff, and our doctors. As of March 20, 2020, Governor Gretchen Whitmer issued an executive order prohibiting non-urgent medical and dental care in our state indefinitely. This order was given to protect the health of the our community and to preserve supplies of personal protective equipment for those fighting on the front lines of the battle against COVID-19. We take this order very seriously, and we have taken the following steps to protect you, our patient family, and our staff:

Our office is closed until further notice. We will post information through Facebook and let patients now via telephone as we receive updates from the Governor's office and the Michigan Department of Health regarding a reopen date.

As always, Drs. Rando and Schaff will be available to manage dental emergencies throughout this entire closure. Please phone our office at 517-787-4712 if you have any concerns or feel you need to be seen. There will be instructions on the voicemail on how to get in touch with Dr. Rando and Dr. Schaff. Special arrangements will be made to promptly and safely provide urgent and emergency care to our patients.

If you have an appointment scheduled between now and April 3rd, we will be reaching out to you via phone and email to work on postponing your appointment. If you have an appointment scheduled in subsequent weeks, please stay tuned. We will be evaluating the situation on a week-by-week basis, and we will do our best to ensure all patients receive timely communication as to the status of their appointments.

Once this order is lifted, we will do everything within our power to accommodate those patients impacted by this closure. We are fortunate to have a talented, caring staff committed to maintaining your oral health.

We recognize this is a challenging time for everyone on so many levels. Your patience and understanding are appreciated as we all navigate through this crisis. We look forward to seeing you as soon as possible. Many thanks to the hardworking healthcare professionals who are fighting this battle on the front lines!

We wish our entire Jackson community health and safety in the days and weeks to come!

-Dr. Robert Rando and Dr. Riley Schaff

Dear Patients, Family, and Friends,

The global spread of COVID-19 is affecting every one of us. Due to elevated concerns of the virus, its transmission, and the multiple unknowns that continue to surround this developing pandemic, we have elected, out of an abundance of caution and concern, to do what we have decided is the best thing for our patients, our staff, and our community at large.

Effective immediately, our office will be limiting our care to stabilization of current patients and urgent/emergent appointments only. This will suspend all routine and elective care, including cleanings. We think this is the most efficient way to prevent unnecessary disease spread and to prevent this pandemic from taxing the critical health care resources that will be necessary to provide care to those whose illness is most severe.

We have made this decision in accordance with recommendations from the CDC, our public officials, and our professional societies. Our decision surpasses these guidelines because of the elevated risk of transmission during this unprecedented time.

While we are unsure how the timeline of pandemic will play out exactly, we will constantly monitor things and resume normal operations as soon as it is safe and prudent to do so. At this point, we are planning on suspending normal operations the remainder of this week and reevaluating the situation at that point. Depending on how the situation plays out, it will likely extend beyond this week.

This was an extremely difficult decision, and we appreciate your understanding and support as we move forward in the way we feel we can best serve our community and patients while protecting our ability to continue to provide the important dental care for patients in need. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this will cause to many people and look forward to tending to your needs as timely as possible.

Sincerely,

Dr. Robert Rando, DDS

Dr. Riley Schaff, DDS
