We are thrilled to introduce the newest member to the Dentistry By Design Team, Dr. Geraldina Bija!
Dr. Bija grew up in Shelby Township, Michigan and completed a Bachelor of Science at Oakland University majoring in Biological Sciences and minoring in Business Administration. With a passion for dentistry and wanting to provide care for others, she continued her education at The University of Michigan School of Dentistry, where she received her Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree.
During her dental studies she received numerous honors and awards including the Omicron Kappa Upsilon certificate (The National Dental Honors Society). At the University of Michigan, Dr. Bija was focused on improving her clinical skills by providing dental care to underprivileged populations and participating in numerous clinical rotations. She developed strong interests in all aspects of dentistry including orthodontics, endodontics, oral surgery, and cosmetic dentistry while studying under Dr. Fred Slete.
Throughout her dental journey, she has remained committed to pursuing excellence and innovation while prioritizing her patient’s well-being. It is extremely important for her to understand each patient’s health objectives and customize dental care to meet each patient’s needs. She takes pride in the quality of her work and is always working to advance her skills through the newest education courses.
In her free time, Dr. Bija enjoys traveling, spending time with family and friends, cooking, reading, and enjoying the outdoors during our beautiful Michigan summers.

She will be joining our team in March, and will begin seeing patients in June!
In addition to our newest team members, we will be undergoing some construction in our space over the coming months. We apologize for the noise and any inconvenience it may cause. We appreciate your understanding!

Our practice has served the Jackson community for over 65 years and is looking for an assistant to work alongside our experienced team and help our growing patient base.

Responsibilities:
- Assist the dentist during dental procedures
- Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations
- Take and develop dental x-rays
- Sterilize dental instruments and equipment
- Provide patient education on oral hygiene and post-operative care
- Perform patient assessments, including taking vital signs and medical history
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical and dental records and documentation
- Utilize digital scanners for crown and bridge procedures

Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Completion of an accredited dental assisting program preferred
- X-ray certification required
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work well in a team environment

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour

Yes, its that time of the year again. Take advantage of your expiring dental insurance benefits. (This does not include our in office membership!)
Many of you have some form of dental benefit coverage. These benefits will not rollover into the new year. Its a ‘use it or lose it’ scenario. For those of you with a diagnosed needs or with pending treatment, it makes economic sense to take advantage of these benefits BEFORE 2021.

To our loyal patients,
We hope this post finds you and your family healthy.
We have all been through a lot over the past few months, and we wanted to take this time to inform you of the changes you can expect from our office.
For those patients whose appointments were affected due to the mandated temporary shut-down, we will be contacting you to address this appointment.
If you have an upcoming appointment that was scheduled prior to the COVID-19 Pandemic, that appointment is subject to change. We will be contacting you regarding your appointment. Our confirmation texts/email will not be used. We require a “Verbal Confirmation” to ensure patient and team safety.
We take great pride in our infection control measures, and we are doing our best to keep all of you and our team healthy. Some aspects of your appointment will change:
• When we call to confirm your upcoming appointment, you will be asked a series of COVID-19 screening questions.
• We will remind you to bring a mask to your appointment. If you do not have a mask we will provide one for you.
• Please come alone to your appointment. If you are a parent and your child has an appointment, we will bring you into the clinic room with your child. If you have a care provider, we ask that they es**rt you to the office and have them return to their vehicle.
• To help maintain Social Distancing, we will no longer have a waiting room. When you arrive for your appointment, please stay in your car and call our office. We will repeat our COVID-19 screening at this time. Once your room is disinfected, we will contact you to enter our office safely.
• Upon reaching our door, we will greet you and take your temperature. Once it is verified to be normal you will proceed to the “Sanitation Area.” This is located in our patient restroom. You will be asked to store your cell phone for the remainder of your visit and wash your hands.
• You will be es**rted to your operatory where you will be given a mouth rinse and proceed with your scheduled appointment.
To maintain Social Distancing, we will be asking for pre-payment of your appointment, and your appointment check out will be done in the clinic room.
For those of you who may want to enter our office without a scheduled appointment, our front door will be locked. Please call ahead of your arrival and we will be happy to help you in an appropriate manner.
This is a major change for us and for you as our patients. It will limit some of the personal interaction that we love having with all of you. We ask for your compliance during this time, and appreciate your understanding. We hope in the near future we will be able to return to normalcy and this protocol may be relaxed.
