Don’t forget this is a holiday weekend and Monday is the 4th of July!! This means that not only does the pharmacy have limited hours (always limited on sundays and limited on Monday for the 4th- Meijer 10-2pm for example) but they are also short staffed so they take longer to get to get to voicemails, longer to fill scripts and they are not always available to get on the phone to speak directly. So if you have a tooth ache and need an antibiotic it is best to call first thing for the best chance of getting a prescription that day!

Periodontal Charting: What It Is & Why It's Important

Periodontal charting is a way of measuring the space between a tooth and the gum next to it. Your dental professional takes 6 measurements per tooth to ensure that all areas are accounted for. Along with the measurements, they also check for bleeding of the gum tissue and areas of gum recession. Healthy tissue measures between 1-3 millimeters and fits snugly around the tooth. Areas of concern measure 4 millimeters and higher, due to plaque and bacteria causing the tissue to be inflamed and pull away from the tooth. Areas with higher readings tend to be more sensitive to probing.

How To Keep Your Gum Tissue Measurements In A Healthy Range:
- Brushing 2x daily and flossing at least once a day
- Making sure while brushing, you are also focusing on cleaning above the gumline.
- Scheduling dental cleanings on a regular basis
