MS NAACP Youth & College Division
The NAACP believes strongly that future leaders must be developed today, and such development is ongoing in the Youth & College Division, created in 1936.
"Justice is never given; it is exacted and the struggle must be continuous for freedom is never a final fact, but a continuing evolving process to higher and higher levels of human, social, economic, political and religious relationship."
Asa Philip Randolph, leader in the Civil Rights Movement as well as the American Labor Movement
There is a compelling role for us to play as defenders of freedom of association. We must make this visible to ensure all Mississippi citizens enjoy the greatest of opportunity and access.
You may contact us at [email protected] to sign up or for more information. Also, we will be able to put anyone in contact with their campus chapter or local chapter for a free seat on each bus (seats are limited).
February 12, 1909, 108 years ago, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People was founded. About sixty people, only seven of whom were African-American, charged themselves to come together in response to the horrid practice of lynching and the 1908 race riot in Springfield, IL. Now, today, more than half-million members and supporters throughout the United States and the world are the premier advocates for civil rights in their communities, campaigning for equal opportunity and conducting voter mobilization.
Happy Founder's Day to those who led us, those who stand beside us, and those who look up to us!
The vote has been held over until Tuesday! Call your senators and vote no against Betsy Devos for Secretary of Education!
